In the INTERIM, RONNIE WHITE DIED…MARV TARPLIN DIED…and BOBBY ROGERS was NEAR DEATH. ONLY CLAUDETTE and PETE were LEFT… and THEN, MOTOWN'S Legendary First Group was FINALLY INDUCTED. Then PETE DIED.. Only SMOKEY and CLAUDETTE were LEFT. ONLY TWO PEOPLE added to the VOTING BODY… And SO…The GAME GOES ON.. BIG MAMA THORNTON was inducted this year. She's DEAD. KOOL & THE GANG got in…MOST are DEAD. JAMES BROWN got in the FIRST YEAR…THE FAMOUS FLAMES were SNUBBED… 26 YEARS GO BY… THE FAMOUS FLAMES are FINALLY INDUCTED in 2012. BOBBY BYRD, JOHNNY TERRY,and LLOYD STALLWORTH are DEAD…Only BOBBY BENNETT is LEFT…Then THE FAMOUS FLAMES finally GET IN.BOBBY DIES 8 MONTHS LATER…NOBODY added to the VOTING BODY. DO…YOU…SEE…A…PATTERN…HERE ?? |

The thing is, remember how that the anonymous voter in 2020 likened Whitney to Streisand and Julio Iglesias, dismissed her music as schlock, but the Hall voted her in anyway? And again, the majority of her recorded music is sonically closer to Streisand and Celine, but she eclipsed the canonical class of white MOR singers because of her direct and explicit lineage to the black musical traditions, which she showed more in her live performance than in her recorded music. Like Diane Warren is a looming presence on most of her albums. And actually many would argue that Whitney is 50% Aretha and 50% Streisand. So you're pitting Swiss cheese against cheddar cheese. Also why are we continuing to use Whitney as a benchmark when you're just proving my point that there are unchecked biases against Mariah that are still unidentified and unidentifiable. I literally mentioned multiple times that Chris Molanphy specifically, intentionally, strategically, systematically made his ballot choices according to tokenized criteria so he wouldn't have to vote for Mariah. He said (I'm paraphrasing): "how can I make my ballot choices around Mariah in a way that doesn't make me look like a racist or misogynist." So I repeat, my points and curiosities are beyond the capacity of this forum? |
