  I guess we have a difference of opinion.
I would much rather see soundtracks of musicals that have no representation at all in this project inducted, than multiple versions of the same musical inducted, no matter if it might be quite different from that which was already inducted. Just my "two cents".

Yes. Because if you're knee deep in then theatre community, there are a lot of musicals where prefer the revivals than the original production, and also overshadowed the original. If we're talking about something like the stage version of Cabaret, people know more about 1998 revival starring Natasha Richardson and Alan Cumming more than the original. The same goes to the (still) Chicago revival became the set standard of what Chicago should looked and staged like.

There is also the fan favorite that, while not groundbreaking, musical fans really preferred that version that it will also overcome the original. I have seen people prefer the Raul Esparza version of "Company" than the original.

And there are some revivals that made radical changes that it became its own thing. A big example of this is the recent Cats: The Jellicle Ball. A revival where they reimagined the whole musical as a tribute to drag ballroom culture.

So yes, a revival can still count if it's that important.

  I should have double checked my own research. Mamma Mia! has not been inducted, as far as I can tell. However, In the Heights and Book of Mormon, along with Sweeney Todd, have. I haven't checked the rest. It would be good to search by a relatively rare word for songs, like "Mormon", "Heights", and "Sweeney" to find if they have been inducted or not.

I had a question regarding format. Should these have "Various Artists" before the title, as some of the other stage recordings have, or should we just have the title first, as some have? I personally feel like it would be good to list these in some kind of common format, at least for this genre vote (I'm not advocating for changing past inducted Original Recordings, just this particular vote).
