Dorsey - Take My Hand, Precious Lord I found these two pages that might help: https://www.hymnologyarchive.com/precious-lord-take-my-hand https://www.umcdiscipleship.org/resources/history-of-hymns-precious-lord-take-my-hand Some notes from the sites: Dorsey wrote it in 1932 (based on an older hymn). It was copyrighted in 1938. It was first recorded by the Heavenly Gospel Singers in 1937. Dorsey himself does not appear to have recorded the song until 1955 as part of a live recording with The Celestial Trio and bass player Big Ernest Crawford. | For July, we will continue the Decade Vote (1960–1969) and introduce a series of new Rock Hall–centric Votes that will run for the rest of the year. The first theme is any Rock Hall inductee who was not inducted as a Performer (full list and link provided below). This will apply to both the Song and Album Projects. It will be, at least, 24 songs and 20 albums receiving induction in these rounds. As you will see, some inductees are ineligible for nomination because they did not perform on the records in question. Even then, it's still a very strong pool of inductees to choose from. There's also a few case-by-case calls I have to make to draw a line of who's eligible and who's not eligible. For example, Carole King is not eligible because her induction was for her work as a songwriter, not as a performer (she was later inducted as a Performer in 2021). Another example is that Ringo Starr's solo career is eligible but not his time with The Beatles. As always, to be considered, an inductee must have performed on the record and be credited as the lead artist. | Hi Nick B., I was looking at the different artists nominated for the Punk Rock Genre, and I noticed that all the previous songs by the Buzzcocks that have been inducted (there are three of them) include "The" as part of their band name. Whether it is correct or not, I wonder if this song currently nominated should also have "The" for consistency's sake. Just a thought I had. | I checked on all the nominated country artists and was shocked to see that many of them do not even have a single album inducted. Since these are all Country Music Hall of Fame artists, which means important artists, we should probably do a better job getting their albums inducted. I've decided to only vote for artists who do not have any albums inducted, for the most part. I think we should try to get an album inducted for most of these artists, if possible. Happy voting!
