Uncovering the Next Generation's Hall of Fame

Rock Hall Projected
This is a continuation of the Rock Hall Revisited project, which looked back at the past 25 Rock Hall inductions. Rock Hall Projected picks up with the 2027 induction class and will vote on at least 15 future Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction classes. The voting rules will continue from Rock Hall Revisited. A spin-off project is ranking all of the performer inductees of both the Revisited and Projected classes.
Thanks again to Gassman (and others!) for organizing and moderating the voting.

I know I have not been as active on these boards as I should have been. Both looking for employment and helping to take care of my dad after his glioblastoma surgery has been among my main priorities. Nonetheless, I am determined to be active for at least the newest process to eventually induct 16 new artists into our Crown Jewel of FRL. So, without further ado, here are who I have nominated for this round of people to be nominated into the Revisited/Projected Rock Hall of Fame Project. Posted by |

For my performer nominee I am going to go with 1 of 2 remaining artists on VH1's 2010 list of 100 greatest artists not inducted and the only one who hasn't been already taken Justin Timberlake. Posted by |
dmg - Unfortunately, we've begun the genre portion of the Performers nomination process and only performers that aren't eligible for the RNR Hall Of Fame are eligible for the Performers ballot this year, so you'll need a replacement nominee. Posted by |
jtrichey- Muse's first album came out in 1999 so they are unfortunately not eligible for this round of voting. Posted by |
My nominee: Twenty-One Pilots. Thought we already inducted Bruno Mars. Posted by Paul in KY on Wednesday, 07/3/2024 @ 10:55am |
My god, the side performer category makes me crazy, year after year. I thought I really had exceptional nominees but they fail so badly. Others (which are quite doubtful to me to be honest) are nominated easily. I really hate the side performer category, not liking it would be highly understated. Sorry. Posted by |
If I haven't been beaten to the punch I'll nominate Paramore. I know they've been suggested for this genre performer round, but I'm not sure if anyone's actually nominated them this time so if not I will. Posted by Andy on Wednesday, 07/3/2024 @ 17:11pm |
Darren, is what Tom H said about Muse correct? I know it's correct that their first album was 1999, but then Muse was on the list you posted a few days ago too. Posted by |

I have 2 related questions concerning the nonperformer runoff and the influences ballot. If we were supposed to have 2 nominees go through, why is there a run off in nonferformer? and on a similar note, shouldn't there be a run off in influences between Kitty Wells, Les Paul and Mary Ford, and Ornette Coleman? I'm sure I am just missing something . If so , let me know. Posted by |

ntndeacon - As there were already 9 nominees in the Non-Peformers and Influences category (1 tiebreaker loser from 2023 and 8 nominees from the previous 4 rounds), there was only 1 remaining nomination spot available in Round 5, so only the one that received the most votes could qualify in this round. My nomination goes to Cocteau Twins Posted by |
I'll wait for other opinions, but Cocteau Twins (first album 1982, last album 1996) fits better in "Classic Alternative/Punk" (70s and 80s, plus all eras of punk) than in "Modern Rock/Alternative/Indie" (90s and 21st Century). Posted by |
The Cranberries Posted by Philip on Wednesday, 07/24/2024 @ 20:21pm |
I'll weigh in on Cocteau Twins - I agree with Darren and I don't think they fit the 'Modern Rock' label of that genre. The majority of their output came in the 1980s. Posted by Dave on Thursday, 07/25/2024 @ 06:36am |
Thought about picking Stereolab or Swans, but I'll go with: Posted by Ray on Thursday, 07/25/2024 @ 09:42am |

Cocteau Twins put out some of their best received LPs in the 90s. I see them as straddling the decade line and, thus, should be eligible for this poll. Posted by |

So I would like to campaign for one artist in particular, someone who I didn't even nominate...and that's Selena. The fact that she isn't in already is insane, but now we have to chance to remedy that. Posted by Chris Lyons on Monday, 09/9/2024 @ 21:32pm |

Some of my FAVS like Bryan Adams, Counting Crows, Lenny Kravitz, Scorpions etc did not make the cut again. I'm open to the best cases to be made. I will be voting for 4 of the music artists listed. Posted by |

Band should be there since long time Posted by Denis on Saturday, 09/14/2024 @ 14:57pm |
I thought I would second what Lax said about Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark: one of the early synth-pop acts, the original "synth duo", and a pioneering band that influenced a wide range of acts that followed, both commercially and from the underground. The A.V. Club called them "one of the earliest synthesizer-driven bands to break out of the post-punk scene and lead the charge toward the defining sound of the [1980s]." PopMatters identified their first three albums as giving "credibility to ambitious pop" and "led to the emergence of a generation of electronic bands." Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode, Yazoo, and Erasure was inspired to become an electronic musician after hearing their music, and Moby called them "synth heroes" while also crediting them as a main factor in choosing to make electronic music. In the process of transitioning the band from Joy Division to New Order, Bernard Sumner credited OMD with helping him see that one "could make music without guitars." James Mercer of the Shins and Broken Bells once said that "OMD are an integral thread in my musical history. You can hear them in my melodic sensibilities and at times in our production... I'll always love them." Other artists influenced by them include the Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, NIN, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Orbital, No Doubt, the Killers, MGMT, LCD Soundsystem, and producer Mark Ronson. They've also been sampled by hip-hop artists like Kid Cudi and Lushlife. Posted by Ray on Sunday, 09/15/2024 @ 20:36pm |

Alicia Keys, Adele, and The Strokes got more votes than Selena? What a joke Posted by Chris Lyons on Monday, 09/23/2024 @ 23:38pm |
Oofda. Another year, another passing over of Fats Waller. I guess I should have campaigned for him, but this is an egregious oversight on our part. He's gotta be pushing into Chic territory for number of times he's been on the ballot. Put a Detroit Lions cap on him.... because next year is gonna be his year, just wait and see... Posted by Philip on Tuesday, 09/24/2024 @ 01:47am |
Nooooo! How did Selena lose out? :( Posted by dmg on Tuesday, 09/24/2024 @ 11:11am |
Selena came extremely close this year, finishing one vote shy of the tiebreaker, getting 14 votes (up from 10 in 2023). She definitely seems to be trending towards induction next year, so good luck to her supporters and remember that even though we're about a hundred artists ahead of the Rock Hall, it's still incredibly difficult to get inducted into this project. Posted by |
I might be in the minority...but I like all four of the performer choices in this year's tiebreaker. All important and worthy in their own right. Let's not disparage artists, even if you don't like the results. Posted by |
Congrats to Boston, Dionne Warwick, Lauryn Hill, Phil Collins, Snoop Dogg on their inductions. A very strong class already. Plus, 2 more soon with the tiebreakers. Posted by |
Actually, my records show that Selena only got 5 votes in 2023, so this is a huge leap forward for her and a great sign for her chances in the future. Posted by |

Here is the complete class of inductees for the Future Rock Legends Re-Visited / Projected Project Class Of 2024: Posted by |
Out of curiosity, are Adele and The Strokes automatically nominated for next years go-round? Posted by |
Another great class. I love that the last few classes have really embraced women and hip hop artists -- a trend I would love to see the actual Rock Hall pick up with the same levels of eagerness. Next year I'll be pulling for Selena, Tracy Chapman, and Lucinda Williams to continue their ascents, and I'd love to see Alanis Morissette back in the conversation. Posted by |
Was hoping The Strokes would pull through, but they did not. Posted by |
Ian - Yes they are. I forgot that detail on the initial announcement, but added it in the next one. Tiebreaker losers are always automatically added to the next year's ballot, regardless of category. Posted by |
The floor is now open for rule change suggestions for the project starting in 2025. Posted by |
I'm gonna propose something I've proposed before, and that is adding more than 7 performer inductees per year, specifically 8. With how much of a backlog of artists we have, especially artists that should've been way before some of the actual inductees, changing the numbers from 7 to 8 could help with getting rid of the backlog. We don't even have to use it all the time, maybe only do it every 2 or 3 years for consistency. Posted by |
I would definitely vote "Yes" to Raichu's proposal of increasing the number of performer inductees per year. I wanna add a proposal of my own: Increasing the number of Influence inductees per year, from 3 to a minimum of 5 or 6. Posted by Johnny on Friday, 09/27/2024 @ 23:30pm |

HitmanHart: The side performer tiebreaker Posted by dmg on Saturday, 09/28/2024 @ 17:02pm |
Pretty much THE hard and fast rule ever since this began is 7 inductees and I don't think that will or should change. Posted by |
Agree with jtrichey on 7 is the perfect number of inductees. There have been proposals to expand the inductees over the years to 8 or 10. The FRL Regulars and New Voters have voted it down. I believe 7 is the perfect number. Last few classes have plenty of women inductees. You could have 10 or 12 Inductee classes and there would still be people frustrated and angry their FAV group wasn't inducted. The jtrichey has been an important voter over the years in the FRL Projects and has a good pulse on things. I personally believe the Scorpions is 1 of my FAVS that should earn induction. Have sold around 100 million records world wide. Global music band. Signature songs like No One Like You, Rock You Like A Hurricane, Send Me An Angel, Still Loving You, The Zoo, Wind Of Change etc. Would also like to see 999, 10,000 Maniacs/Natalie Merchant, Black Crowes, Bryan Adams, Counting Crows, L.A. Guns, Queensryche, etc earn induction. KING Posted by |
Casper, I believe it is a VERY short list. Posted by |

I lean towards accepting the Soundcloud date and saying Billie first released a recording in 2015. Posted by |
Darren, in this case I would agree Billie Eilish would be considered 2016. It can be difficult to parse the true debut. Some bands might be together for 5 years before they get signed and release something. Posted by |
I'm going to say that going forward, we're going to match FRL's years for initial eligibility, so Billie Eilish won't be eligible until 2026. Posted by |

To jump off of what Ray said. This category is already a consolidation as well. There are also plenty of quality metal picks that could be made beyond the few that were made this year. A couple that spring to mind... Posted by |

My R&B Nomination is..... Rick James. Posted by |
Was checking out the DigitalDreamDoor Top 100 list and realizing just how overstuffed the Rock Hall and this project are with R&B history. At this point I feel we're considering the E-list. Effectively inducting over 100 key R&B names in all the categories yet for indie rock we've done like, what, 15-20? Just way out of balance. Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens, Yo La Tengo….they're more important than Teddy Pendergrass or Labelle. Posted by |

This project's Drake erasure is also a crime. I find him to be a total bore but we've inducted so many mainstream acts with a fingernail of the impact and/or commercial success that he has had that this project is completely hypocritical to exclude him. Posted by |

SotN - Lax42 is correct. We don't have a "Last Chance" ballot for artists that fall just short of nomination, but we do have 3 general nomination votes each year and this year the general nominations are after the genre votes, so everyone who misses the ballot through the genre ballot will have the opportunity to make it that way. I'm nominating St. Vincent who lost their genre tiebreaker to My Chemical Romance. For the love of God, can someone nominate Selena? I think I over thought the last category strategically and didn't vote for her and that was really friggin' dumb. I promise to get it right this time. Posted by |
I also strongly recommend a push for Gang of Four, should someone nominate them. Definitely think there's enough support here to get them on to the ballot with ease. So somebody nominate 'em! Posted by |

I'm gonna nominate Slipknot Posted by |
If I'm reading correctly, the three nominated artists above me will still be nominees regardless of who wins the tiebreaker vote. Posted by Mason on Tuesday, 09/2/2025 @ 10:26am |
Mason - Yes, that's correct. The three tiebreaker losers will be on the ballot as well as anyone nominated as a replacement nomination. I figured it would be easier this way, so that everyone knows who's nominated for Round 2, regardless of the tiebreaker results. Posted by |
I'll switch my nomination from Aimee Mann to Manfred Mann! Posted by joker on Tuesday, 09/2/2025 @ 16:11pm |

Glad to see Jeff make the ballot! I'll nominate King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard for my next one. Posted by |
Given that no one I've nominated has gotten much traction, I'll change my pick this time to Styx. Posted by |
If Midnight Oil goes through the tiebreaker, I'll continue with Blink -182 Posted by |
Darren, you had forgotten to put Sting in the list of artists already nominated for the Performers category for the Revisited/Projected Rock Hall Project. Sting should be put in on the list between St. Vincent and Supertramp. I understand this may have been due to Sting winning a tiebreaker, yet this oversight should be rectified. As well, I will not be changing my artist I put up for nomination this time out. Ergo, it will still be Sarah McLachlan as my pick for nomination this coming election cycle. Posted by |
I'll change mine to Arctic Monkeys. Honestly thought Slipknot would've done better, but clearly not. Posted by |
Lax42 - Yes, Sting is also nominated. I forgot to add him to the list in the announcement because he won a tiebreaker, but he's everywhere else on my nomination spreadsheets. Posted by |
Honestly, that's a really tough tiebreaker - all of those acts would be a good ballot straight up. But I have no problem with this! Posted by SotN on Tuesday, 09/9/2025 @ 16:46pm |
I'll change my nomination to The Turtles. Posted by joker on Tuesday, 09/9/2025 @ 19:24pm |

The 2025 nomination process has now been completed and the annual ballots are completed. Posted by |
Right now there are four nominees who should be GIMME'S for induction: Posted by Mason on Tuesday, 09/16/2025 @ 12:01pm |
I'm going to make a case for one non-performer nominee for induction: Posted by |
As we approach the annual voting process, it's near impossible to NOT notice that this ballot is utterly loaded with indie rock acts (and a few adjacent ones). Many of you may know that I've long been a proponent of these underappreciated names and not from the perspective of trying to "stick it" to the commercial music industry but because I feel the through-lines of innovation and influence clearly show that bands like Television did a lot more to change the face of rock history than artists like Joe Cocker or Bon Jovi. Remove either of the latter and we're still where we're at but start picking away at those who ushered in new sound landscapes, subgenres and styles and we'd be in, frankly, a much more boring music universe in the year 2025. Posted by |
BIKINI KILL - What can be said of a name that launches a new genre unto itself other than said genre? Riott grrl. If you're looking for the most feminist, politically engaged act on this year's list, then look no further. Four women who brought absolute FURY to the stage and wrapped it up in indelible punk hooks. It's a travesty that they aren't in yet. Posted by |
LANA DEL REY - Our foremost lyricist and pop figure of the 21st century with an array of classic albums and a cult fandom unto herself, this is probably the most no-brainer selection on the entire ballot. Imagine a world where Leonard Cohen was alive and had songs with billions of streams on Spotify and headlined festivals. Because that's what we've got right here and we should never lose sight of that. Posted by |
J Dilla not being inducted yet is also completely ludicrous. We'll be giving a true iconoclast artisan their rightful home in this project. The other non-performers don't have a record like Donuts to demonstrate their craft. It's like we're sneaking in an extra Performer inductee. Posted by |
Doris Troy also known as Doris Payne and called Mama Soul by fans is best known for her hit Just One Look which she also wrote, and her George Harrison produced self-titled album on Apple. Discovered by James Brown and one of the original Sweet Inspirations has sung on to The Rolling Stones You Can't Always Get What You Want, Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, & Carly Simon's You're So Vain alongside Humble Pie, Johnny Hallyday, Dusty Springfield, Nick Drake & more. She even had a stage musical she made in 1983. An important and overlooked figure that should be inducted in this project. Posted by Ozma on Tuesday, 09/16/2025 @ 19:25pm |
Have to admit, I'm thinking I overlooked Cocteau Twins yesterday. They also deserve heavy consideration with the rest of my bulleted list. Posted by Mason on Wednesday, 09/17/2025 @ 12:13pm |
For my side category picks, actually being under the umbrella of what we describe as Rock and Roll is what really matters to me. I'm just not sure the history of rock and roll changes if Tony Bennett and The Andrews Sisters weren't around. They're important, but just not to how we get to Megadeth, Weezer and Bjork, imo. KING Rock Hall Project Discussion SEPT 18, 2025. Posted by |
KING, I think that was probably the best post you've ever done here. I will be voting for Olivia Newton-John. But what I really want to do isn't to make a case for any particular candidate but to encourage my fellow voters to practice balance. There's plenty of space on the ballot to include many different but deserving artists from diverse backgrounds and eras. This goes for the side categories as well. So the word for today and voting day is balance. Posted by joker on Thursday, 09/18/2025 @ 22:08pm |
Agreed about the ballot balance, joker, which is why I'm so happy I get to vote for six female frontwomen! It's a chance to honor key musical figures from the last five decades, spanning dream pop to soul, singer-songwriter to post-punk, riot grrrl to trip hop. And that's just my ten votes on the Performers ballot! Posted by |

The final part of our annual induction process (other than the completion of the remaining tiebreaker vote) is proposing changes to the rules and genre votes for next year. Posted by |
Wow, shocked to not see Cocker get in but still a great class overall! I had six of the seven inductees on my ballot. Posted by Mason on Tuesday, 09/30/2025 @ 00:04am |
Woohoo! J Dilla is inducted! Posted by |
A KING salute to this Class of Hall Of Famers!!! Adele, Alanis Morrisette Bikini Kill, Linkin Park, Patti LaBelle, The Strokes, Traci Chapman. Congrats to the FRL Regulars and new voters who selected the 30 ballot class of outstanding music artists. It truly was an excellent ballot. This can be witnessed by the strong vote count for many artists. I think Linkin Park benefitted from the selection of artist of the month in September. They had many great songs over 20+ years. Voters saw the depth of LP's discography and songs over their career. LP might have finished just short otherwise. Adele was 1 of my final votes. Credit to Mason on a quality write-up for Adele here in her favor. It tipped the scales voting for Adele. Happy to vote for Patti LaBelle and scrolling down to see her induction in this class. Should open a spot for another deserving artist in 2026. It's just an outstanding class of inductees. As many here can attest who have participated in the projects, every vote counts and was evident again this year. Good luck to the music artists who just missed this year. Usually the artist can receive a boost the next year to clear the threshold of induction. The voters also did excellent work in the other categories. Kris Kristofferson had a long lasting music career as an artist and writer. His death recently highlighted some of his great work. Bootsy Collins also has a long music career and an outstanding choice. I believed Tony Bennett would perform better in the voting but should return to the ballot next year. Another amazing and incredible year for the voters and induction of a deserving and excellent Class. Posted by |

Proposed Rule Change #1: Eliminating The World Music Category For Genre Voting Posted by |
Casper- Posted by Mason on Tuesday, 09/30/2025 @ 20:39pm |
Glad to see my nominees: Don Kirshner & Al Nevins, Charles Mingus, Doris Troy all get in. Posted by Ozma on Wednesday, 10/1/2025 @ 06:44am |
I will be voting to oppose the elimination of the World music genre. There are several worthy in that genre currently, and with the rise of Latin music of various genres and music from Korea and Japan, We'll be seeing even more good nominees coming out of that genre vote. Posted by |

Perhaps having a limit on the number of automatic nominees per year would be a compromise if the motion passes. A maximum of X # of Performers that can be automatically nominated as a result of losing a tiebreaker (in the case of a massive tiebreaker the maximum could be set aside as needed) or as a result of finishing close to induction. Can someone who proposed or supports the elimination of the World Music genre explain why we should do away with it? Posted by |
Proposed Change: Eliminate Carry-Over Nominations Posted by |
Nick B. - In your proposal, you mean eliminating the automatic nominations for tiebreaker losers, correct? Posted by |
Darren - yes Posted by |
Proposal 1. Would like to see Singer/Songwriters as a Separate Genre. There are plenty of great 1970's &1980's Singer/Songwriters not inducted yet like Dan Fogelberg, John Denver & David Gates (Bread). They might do better in voting within a stricter Singer/Songwriters genre. Posted by |
I would probably vote FOR Nick B proposal on a clean slate. Start clean each year. Eliminating the automatic nominations for tiebreaker losers. You might have 2-5 music artists carry over which eats away at the Artist Nominations for the next year. I think Blink-182 was 1 of the carryovers to this year. They failed to be inducted earning a respectable 12 votes. We still have the General Nominations which any artist could be nominated and selected. Have to research and study over these proposals. They are very good. Posted by |
King - Blink-182 lost the tiebreaker in 2023 and failed to get inducted in 2024 or 2025. The 2024 tiebreaker losers were Adele and The Strokes, who were both inducted in 2025. There was at least one 2024 tiebreaker loser from the side categories that failed to get inducted in 2025. Posted by |
I am open to discussing Nick B's proposal further, but in my opinion it's fair for a tiebreaker loser to receive an automatic second-chance. These acts demonstrate that they have ample consideration for the Projected list by tying an inductee. Juxtaposing them to runner ups on the other hand, those act are still under par with the inductees above them. That is why I don't think they deserve to be carried over. I'm really interested about the tiebreaker proposal. Here's an interesting hypothetical example. Very similar to the Rock Projected Vote. EX: Bryan Adams. He's 1 of my FAV music artist since Cuts Like A Knife & Reckless days. Adams finds himself in a 5 way tie at 14 votes. Posted by |
My reason for getting rid of World music is it is just not a very prosperous category to get actual inductions. Does anybody actually think those artists are honored to be nominated by us small timers on this small internet space? Of course not. If some KPOP group deserves induction they can easily make it in a general vote in the future, IMO. I just don't think the names and the genre are compelling enough to waste a week of nominations and votes on it. Posted by |
I think that we, like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have a big problem getting important acts that originate outside the United States (and some United Kingdom acts to a lesser degree) voted in. With this, I am including both these outside artists that record in English as well as those who record in other languages. Posted by |
Alternatively, we could combine the Electronica and World Music categories into one genre as we have done with so many others since there seems to be a lot of artists who qualify for both. Posted by |
I like Jennifer's idea of combining those four genres into her two proposed super-genres for lack of a better term. Posted by Mason on Wednesday, 10/1/2025 @ 22:56pm |
Normally, I'd be heading out about this time from projects, but I'm making a move to actually stick around and contribute this go around: Posted by SotN on Wednesday, 10/1/2025 @ 23:38pm |
A KING salute to the FRL Regulars & New Voters who have submitted interesting late SEPT & early October 2025 proposals. Jennifer proposals are excellent and I would be supportive of combining Electronica/World Music & R&B/Hip -Hop. There has been some good discussion for more General Nominations. Something I was thinking about. The top 2 music artists in each genre that fall short of nomination in the genre vote could be a general nomination type vote at the end in September. That would comprise of maybe 18 or 20 music artists. Top 2 artists in voting earn nomination. Most likely groups people would vote for in a 30 artist ballot nomination. Jennifer's proposal could strengthen World Music combining with Electronica. World Music probably has enough support with the voters to survive another year. I like Singer/Songwriters more of a separate genre as it could add some more women artists to the 30 music artists ballot. The 1990's had a number of female singer/ songwriters emerge on the music scene. We have inducted a fair number (Alanis, Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Tori Amos). I'm flexible about my Early Rock & Rock split. There's also a more modern rock genre we have here. Great work as we continue to discuss and think about some interesting proposals. Posted by |
Tiebreaker voting is now closed. Posted by |
Congratulations to the Future Rock Legends Re-Visited / Projected Class of 2025! Posted by |
Merging Electronica and World Music does not make sense to me. Many artists under the World Music umbrella do not make Electronica/EDM music. For example - Desmond Dekker, Selena, and X Japan are World Music artists that do not make Electronica music. The merging of categories must be compatible and that is not the case, at least from my perspective. Posted by |
Here are the proposed rule changes for the project starting with next year. If you feel that your proposal is misrepresented, please offer corrections before I post the poll on Saturday afternoon (approx. 5 PM Central). Posted by |
Darren, is there still time to toss in a proposal to eliminate the Classic Rock category? I feel we're just circling the drain there and the names it produces aren't all that viable, anyway. Posted by |
Casper - We can add a poll question about that, but can you be more specific on how you would want that elimination handled, because the genre is "Classic Rock / Metal", so if that genre is eliminated, would there be other adaptations suggested to accommodate both parts of the genre? Posted by |
Folding Classic Rock/Metal into Classic Alternative/Punk works for me. Just have it all be one big genre name that mentions all of that. That's my proposal. Posted by |
Darren Posted by |
I support and agree with KING's most recent proposal. However, I completely disagree with Casper's proposal because I think there is still a considerable backlog of significant classic rock/metal acts that are still waiting for their chance to make it on to a ballot Posted by |
the final ballot. Posted by |
King - We'll sort out the specifics of what year the split will take place in if your rule change passes. Posted by |
Updated questions: Posted by |
1. Should we eliminate the World Music genre category from the nomination process? Posted by |
In my opinion, It is disingenuous to worry that combining Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B/Soul into 1 genre might lead to less representation of people of color on the ballots going forward. Many of our classes have at least have half of their classes represented by these genres. Many of our classes also have over half of the inducted classes represented by people of color. Posted by |
Since these projects began we have done a spectacular job of inducting important Hip Hop/Rap Acts and countless important R'n"B acts. We have done a much better job through the years than the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame itself has done. Posted by |
Without including some of the huge number of primarily R&B and Soul inductees we have, below are some of the many hip hop/rap focused artists that we have inducted through the years: Posted by |
As I mentioned above, we have also inducted many R&B and Soul artists. I will try to make the time to compile and post a list of those soon too. Posted by |
Once big correction from one of my earlier posts: Posted by |
that should be One big Posted by |
jtrichey - I'll be creating a web poll for people to vote on the rule change issues. I hope to post that this afternoon (but it might be delayed until late night tonight or tomorrow due to some conflicts), but there will be 7 days of voting in that poll to determine the results. Posted by |
Darren, Posted by |
Jennifer I agree with pretty much everything you said. Posted by |
Voting is now open for the Rule Changes voting. Posted by |
Thank you to Mason, SotN, KING, Nick B., Darren, jtrichey, and others for contributing to the conversations here! I greatly value everyone's opinions. Please feel free to continue to contribute to this ongoing conversation as well. Posted by |
I do think World music as its own new category makes a lot of sense and would be way more fun and interesting than the sideman category which I have advocated for retiring before. Posted by |
Hello fellow posters, Posted by |
Nick or Darren: Just wondering at this point, but is it possible that, if someone has already voted and wants to change their vote, are they able to message you and have it done? Posted by SotN on Tuesday, 10/7/2025 @ 22:10pm |
SotN - If you or anyone else wants to change their votes, they can cast a new vote and I'll delete the previous one. Posted by |

This type of rock has a place in my heart for many reasons. But, for now I am relating to it a lot because of the new Amazon Prime show that I worked on a lot last year, The Runarounds. They are considered by many to be a blend of indie rock with elements of pop punk and alternative rock. They are also a real life band that sold out most of their fall tour of mid-size venues primarily along the East Coast. They released a 17 Song Soundtrack album for the show through Arista Records and are also working on a separate album outside of the show for Sony's AWAL, which is a global recording business that serves as an alternative to the traditional record label, offering deal structures that provide artists with the resources and expertise of a global label while allowing them to retain ownership and control of their music (as per wikipedia). Haven't posted or contributed here in a long time. I read through some of the more recent dialogue above about combining genres, etc. and ultimately I'm glad the genres remained split (though disappointed that classic rock and metal are still combined) but I also wanted to state how I understand and even somewhat agree with Jennifer's point here and share some further thoughts on the matter. Here are my ten that are currently missing Posted by Brian on Thursday, 02/5/2026 @ 10:40am |
Brian, I am not sure what you mean by this post. If you are referring to the Revisited/Projected Rock Hall Project, it needs to be said that The Monkees, Phil Collins, Boston and Billy Idol have all been elected to Revisited/Projected. As well, Steve Lukather and Jeff Pocaro also went in, thus Toto is also in pretty much. So that is half of your list. Please be able to clarify your meanings next time you do what amounts to something akin to vague posting. The same should go for all of us. Posted by |
