No way. I'd say Counting Crows, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, etc.. long before Collective Soul. The above bands all had hits throughout their career. Collective Soul had a couple hits early on. Posted by Andy on Thursday, 10/9/2014 @ 14:00pm |
I would say NO to Collective Soul RRHOF although I like the group. Probably Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins,Soundgarden,Counting Crows, DMB and a few others 90's bands ahead of them. KING Posted by KING on Saturday, 05/2/2015 @ 19:58pm |
I like Collective Soul but they have to wait behind a long list of quality bands Chicago, Duran Duran, The Cure, Deep Purple, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Judas Priest, Moody Blues etc. Love the post on Grant Lee Buffalo, Cheesecrop. They had to be the most underrated group of 90's. Definitely a King FAV. My FAV GLB song Lone Star Song. Mockingbirds excellent song especially the high falsetto. Some people just don't understand great ROCK music. Branching out? Seriously, if you really understand the lyrics you will find great song writing and that December song has nothing to do with acts of sex. Their concerts are nothing short of fantastic. No dancers nor fancy pyrotechnics they don't need that. They ABSOLUTELY belong in the ROCK HALL FAME. GOT MY VOTE!! Posted by Roz on Saturday, 12/9/2017 @ 10:46am |
After listening to CS growing up and loving music I would say yes! Great shows live and a lot of great songs. How could one not rock to Shine and Precious Declaration. First albums with the original line-up were amazing. Great guitar work and amazing drum work, with unique vocals .. 7 number one hits, heavy (pun intended) rotation on MTV (does anyone remember when they played music) and won Dolly Parton a Grammy for Shine! If there gonna go in they gotta indict Ross Childress, and Joel kosche, I don't care if ed has bad blood with them he needs to get over it, without Ross that band wouldn't have those hard rock riffs in the 1990s, imo a yes for the hall but only if Ross and Joel are allowed to attend. Collective Soul doesn't meet the Hall's requirements to be nominated and inducted, so I'm not expecting to this happen all. When it comes to 90's rock, alternative, and metal; I think these guys have best chance to get in many years from now. Posted by The Dude on Monday, 08/13/2018 @ 00:34am |
Forget to add Tool and the Oasis on the list. There are plenty of 90's acts who are more important than CS. Posted by The Dude on Monday, 08/13/2018 @ 00:42am |

If they ever inducted collective soul ed has to let Ross be there I don't care if he slept with his ex wife or not Ross was the guitar whiz for the band he could shred on songs like heavy, tremble for my beloved, December, and why Pt, 2 Posted by Gio trapani on Sunday, 09/30/2018 @ 19:44pm |
25 plus years of rock solid rock n roll. 10 plus albums and numerous hits through 3 decades. Collective Soul should absolutely be inducted!!! Posted by Gofreddo on Saturday, 10/26/2019 @ 14:41pm |
Suggest that we look at this in comparison. If Janet Jackson is in the HOF, then my gosh, Collective Soul should be in no doubt! They are one of my favorite all time groups and the variety of their music is to be acknowledged. They were one of the few early 90s bands along with Pearl Jam that saved Rock 'n Roll after the horrible 80s hair band period. Posted by Gary Green on Wednesday, 07/15/2020 @ 11:56am |
My beloved, sh!tty two-hit-wonder band Collective Soul is Hall Material. I hate the glam bands from the 80's because they men despite their looks and I'm not. Posted by The Dude on Wednesday, 07/15/2020 @ 12:38pm |
Just to let guys know the Recent comment above it is fake done by a troll, which I noticed instantly when I went on this site. Posted by The Dude on Wednesday, 07/15/2020 @ 12:40pm |

ummmm Collective Soul has morrrre songs then any band, lead alot of categories including longest at number 1. billions of plays, and sound better live. not many bands can do 5 songs let alone 50. Posted by Joel Collins on Thursday, 07/29/2021 @ 19:15pm |
This is one of those groups that when you hear one of their songs you say, "This is a Collective Soul song?" The variety and music of their music coupled with the complicated nature of their songs sold me on them during the 90s. I think the HOF is too focused at times on odd ball off the wall stuff and is racing to catch up to push women solo orders for political correctness purposes for their to be room for these guys. Otherwise they would at least be nominated. I read another comment here that stated they were one of the few 90s bands he liked. I second that. This group was not grunge, just a very talented group who were an inspiration to current day groups who have to fight the corporate solo artist music of today. Collective Soul should definatly be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Posted by Debra on Sunday, 11/27/2022 @ 21:50pm |
I'd vote yes, and I'm not sure what I'm missing. every year there's a couple head scratchers (I don't get Sinead O'Connor - outside of Nothing Compares 2 U, I'm not seeing any other huge hits or anything). Collective Soul definitely has a smaller following than the huge bands, but I personally don't think Counting Crows deserve a nod above them. In addition to their 7 #1 hits, they also had 5 more that landed in the top 10 (Smashing Young Man, Gel, Why Pt. 2, Counting the Days, No More, No Less), 3 more in the Adult Alternative Airplay top 10 (Perfect Day, Better Now, and Hollywood), and 20 total top 40 hits. They have released 11 studio albums (with #12 to drop next month), 2 live albums (one of which with a youth symphony orchestra which sounds amazing), a greatest hits (2 if you count the hard-to-find disc 2 of SWYSBC with new renditions of old classics), one EP, and an acoustic album.
