19 comments so far (post your own)Unfortunately, as much as I want her to be a part of it, i vote no. When her first album came out, it looks like she would've been great for it, but when she grew up, so did her music. It went from rock eligible, to the same genre as paramore or cher Loyd. Avril Lavigne does deserve it. She doesn't use autotune or playback. She writes her own songs from her heart that are so emotional, and She wasn't created by Disney cause Avril created Avril. She has so much talent, more then what people think. Im a classic rock fan but if anyone deserves to go in the Hall of Fame later she does Posted by Steve on Sunday, 11/3/2013 @ 00:15am |
I would say NO to Avril Lavigne. However,I listened to the Under My Skin CD & it was excellent. 2 or 3 more CD's like that & she deserves consideration. Posted by KING on Sunday, 02/16/2014 @ 20:45pm |
If I was asked this question about a year ago, I would have said yes, without a doubt. Then she released "Hello Kitty." I've lost all faith in her. Posted by NixtonV on Friday, 07/4/2014 @ 14:58pm |

AvriL Lavigne does deserve to get into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. sold out shows, platinum albums, a superstar world wide artist and had influenced many artists already. There is noone else like her , a princess of rock attitude with an edge on her. She s so amazing at what she does and wasn't created by Disney because Avril created Avril. I love her and her music so much Posted by Steve on Tuesday, 09/29/2015 @ 03:12am |
Crazy cause she went down hill when the truth started to show. She was made up and marketed to fit the group of misfits of that generation. Tomboy skater girl Yoda Yoda Yoda. Pink was a tomboy like skatergirl too. This girl was made into what would sell and given good songs writers. Posted by Viccccc on Sunday, 01/15/2017 @ 06:05am |
like her music or not, she's a pop punk legend and as a legend in that rock genre, she should be in the hall when her time as come. Posted by Timothy on Sunday, 10/22/2017 @ 11:15am |
No and no it’s bad enough Janet Jackson is getting inducted this has to be a joke right Posted by Bengals2019 on Saturday, 12/15/2018 @ 01:01am |
Only her first album was rock. Everything else is garbage. Posted by Liam on Saturday, 08/31/2019 @ 21:44pm |
Her first 2 albums, are absolutely iconic to any teens and kids growing up in the early 2000's. Her 07 album was popular but not quite the influence. Just about everything after that is forgettable though. Her influence has shown over the past decade or so in artists like Paramore, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ed Sheeran, Soccer Mommy, Lil Uzi Vert, Billie Eilish, and more. I'd say once Alanis Morissette gets in, flood gates are wide open for Avril. Not a first ballot by any means but by 2037, definitely. Posted by Erik on Tuesday, 08/11/2020 @ 09:20am |
Whether you like her or not it's likely she will, Whitney Houston was inducted and Avril is definitely more rock than her, and a lot of her career she has used rock sounds, her first album was definitely pop rock, but her 2nd was post grunge and alternative. And while Best Damn Thing is Pop(underlined and bold) it definitely has punk elements. She's also going back to a more rockier sound this year and worked with John Feldman. Plus it'd be stupid because she shaped the entire pop rock sound scape of the thousands. Again artists that aren't even slightly rock are getting in, and Avril being pop rock should get in. Pop Rock is still rock, it's just typically more melodic, and contains better lyrical content. Posted by Andrew on Monday, 04/19/2021 @ 10:15am |

She is an aboulute legend. She definitely will get in the hall of fame. She is a great talent, and a great person. Her career has so many highs and she achieved them with grace and talent. She is a natural beauty, and a natural talent. She did not get famous from shaking her ass or lip syncing. She has influenced many singers, and turned pop and rock away from britney/backstreet boys/christina style pop and limp bizkit style rock. Think about all the artists that say they were influenced by her, and how many people got into rock because of her. I can't wait to see her in the hall. Without Avril Lavigne, we would not not have so many artists today. She is an absolute icon. After discovering her, I got into bands such as Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182, All American Rejects, and so forth. She is a rock artist! Avril Lavigne is responsible for millions of people getting into rock, her influence can still be heard today, and she led an entire movement in the 2000's... YES Avril should be in. Along with Good Charlotte and Blink 182. Posted by Katharine on Monday, 10/4/2021 @ 00:57am |
