You can find that most 80-90s (alternative/indie) rock/metal acts are more isolated from music industry and rock hall inner circle compared with other rock genres acts. The only reason that Rage was nominated 5 times in 6 years is that Tom Morello is in the nom com. It is a little unfair that others like Pumpkins, Soundgarden did not get that huge amount of chances. But Tom Morello is not as connected as likes of Dave Grohl. So I'm curious about who votes for the likes of the RS 500 list, it seems their voting group has no relation to the Rock Hall's voting body. If only Rock Hall voting body were casting the votes for RS 500 list, Lionel Richie, Foreigner, Doobie Brothers would have several albums listed, whereas bands like JD/NO, the Smiths, and the Pixies might not make the list at all. |
