4 comments so far (post your own)BJ Thomas' career is similar to that of Glen Campbell, Charlie Rich, Kenny Rogers, Tanya Tucker, John Denver, Anne Murray, Dolly Parton, Eddie Rabbit, etc. whose careers mostly flourished in the Country Music side of the house but bled over into the pop charts. Those hits are considered "Middle of the Road" in "Nashville speak". BJ's pop hits "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head", "Eyes of a New York Woman", "Hooked on a Feeling", "So Lonesome (I Could Cry)", "Most of All", "No Love at All", "Rock and Roll Lullaby", etc solidly hit on the top 40 in the late 60s, early 70s. I would consider these Folk Pop, Country Pop, Country Folk, "Middle of the Road" Pop. These are not Rock and Roll hits. BJ, although very talented, on the Country Music side, he falls short of Glen, Dolly, Kenny, etc not having enough hits on the Country side. He IS a multiple Grammy award winner for his craft. If BJ goes in the Rock Hall, all the people I mentioned previously would need a look. This is Good music...It just isn't Rock Music. So NO! Posted by Tim D on Monday, 03/29/2021 @ 00:15am |
I personally believe BJ Thomas should be inducted in both the R&R Hall of Fame as well as the Country Hall of Fame. Yes, he hits both sides of that fence and has added much to both music venues. Come on now, do the right thing and give credit where it is due! Posted by Donna on Tuesday, 04/27/2021 @ 14:58pm |
Rest in Peace B. J. Thomas, 1942-2021. Posted by Joe on Saturday, 05/29/2021 @ 20:47pm |
