I swear, just from looking at this list, band names are becoming more and more ridiculous. Granted, strange band names aren't an entirely new concept (1910 Fruitgum Company, anyone?), but it almost seems like it's a requisite for bands to choose the most absurd, outrageous-sounding names. Witness:

Alkaline Trio (Do they use alkaline batteries for their equipment?)

And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead (Sounds like something Bela Lugosi might have said in the original Dracula)

Atreyu (I don't even want to know the story behind this one.)

Camera Obscura (I remember learning about this device in my Media Aesthetics class)

Clem Snide (Wasn't he a member of The Ant Hill Hob on Wacky Races?)

The Dillinger Escape Plan (You mean John Dillinger's escapes from jail were written down and preserved for all to read?)

Drive-By Truckers (I wasn't aware that truck drivers were so involved in drive-by shootings.)

Elbow (Is this a band of guys who play guitars just with their elbows?)

Lacuna Coil (I think this is a variation of the Heimlich maneuver, but don't quote me on that)

Phantom Planet (I once saw this movie. Decent early '60s outer space flick with a monster played by Richard Kiel)

Project 86 (Did the first 85 projects fail?)

Queens of the Stone Age (Apparently the concept of a monarchy dates back to the prehistoric era)

Saves the Day (Who saves the day, why does the day need to be saved, and what exactly does it need to be saved from? The mind boggles)

Shadows Fall (This happens especially when walking in dimly-lit back alleys)

Six Organs of Admittance (So do I have to bring six organs in order to be admitted to a concert? I think I'll need a few pick-up trucks to transport the organs)

Thousand Foot Krutch (So this is what The Tallest Man on Earth uses whenever he has a leg/knee injury)

Umphreys McGee (Must be the great-great-great-great grandson of Fibber McGee)

UNKLE (Creative misspellings, I see)

Zebrahead (I'd never have a zebra head mounted on one of my living room walls)

Yes he has been recognized for his work with ELO but he has many contributions as a producer, performer, songwriter, and musician apart from the original ELO band. Destiny's Child is the real dark horse for next year. I feel the Hall want Beyonce to be a double inductee and the only questions I see happening is do they try to get her in early with Destiny's Child (who also give the Hall 4 additional black female inductees who are badly needed in the opinions of many) and whether they should go in, let alone be nominated, before TLC, Salt N Peppa, En Vogue, Boyz II Men, New Edition, Sade, and especially Mariah Carey (not to mention Mary J Blige). I think the Beyonce factor might be big enough to push Destiny's Child over that hump of a backlog but also could hold them back because you really want to celebrate her more than them.

Destiny's Child really feels like an act few would seriously complain about, unlike say Spice Girls or N'Sync, you get an icon in Beyonce, a well liked performer in Kelly Rowland, a classic and super influential album (The Writing's on the Wall), and some pretty well liked tunes which are pretty clearly RnB as opposed to straight up pop.

I can only see Destiny's Child and Missy Elliott getting in from this year. Missy Elliott should get the Tupac/Biggie/Jay Z/Eminem treatment and go in first year eligible, hopefully she will, she deserves it as she's one of the most innovative hip-hop artists of all time.

All should be inducted before any of the 2023 eligibles are even considered.

Hanson definitely deserves to be inducted. Not only are they a powerhouse trio with their harmonies, they are phenomenal song writers. They play their own instruments and are a huge step above "boy bands". Nothing comes even remotely close.

I think that the american rocksinger SUZI QUATRO should be in the Rock´n´Roll Hall of Fame!! I wonder why she is not already since a long while!!?? She had her first band when she was 13 years old, had lots of Hits in the Seventhies and sold nearly 60 millions of records. She was in 1973 the first woman which was boss of her own band, played bass and was sucessful with that.
So she was a reall pioneer and opened the doors for other women in Rock, like Joan Jett, Runaways and lot´s of more. She is the REAL AND TRUE QUEEN OF ROCK´N´ROLL and deserve to enter the Rock´n ´Roll Hall of Fame. I really wonder why she is not yet in the Rock´n´ Roll Hall of Fame, she belong to be there!!!! Hopefully she will get nominate for 2023!
You should not forget that she is still touring today and give concerts all around the world and never stoped making music!

When do we see Golden Earring, Fog Hat, Spooky Tooth, Nazareth, Foreigner, Slade, Quiet Riot, and Twisted Sister on the list of inductees? There are many of countless artists that have been snubbed for years. They are just waiting to get their opportunity. Also drummer Eric Carr, guitarist Steve Stevens, and Steven Via should also be inducted for their style and revolutionized or helped shaped rock and roll of the 80's music and the generation after.

I recently became a fan of the induction ceremony. Quite frankly, I had previously watched clips/ hilites but never made time to watch the entire ceremony until this year. I am sure glad I did as I really enjoyed it as much as I enjoy music and specially rock n roll. Having said that I would like to express that Tom Jones, Morrissey and Berlin should be nominated. I know that The Smiths were previously nominated but I also feel that MORRISSEY should be nominated a solo artist as well.

Thank you for honoring rock n roll and for keeping music alive.

I think JETHRO TULL should have been in the music hall of fame years years ago! They are the only band that sold 20,000 seated concerts out in Cincinnati, Ohio. They have been playing since 1968 to PRESENT! NEW ALBUM COMING OUT 2023. That is legendary for a band to keep performing and running and touring all these decades. Ian Anderson needs to be honored along with his band and excellent music and fans !

Not sure why you would Highlight Missy Elliot and Queens of the Stone Age when the biggest act of that genre was CREED. Yes Scott Stapp ruined his repuation and caused the collapse of the band later on. But he has redeemed himself and Mark Tremonti has become one of the biggest influences in rock guitar today. They are no different than any other great R&RoF bands before them. But they have still out sold most of the bands of that era who have stayed together.

Queens of the Stone Age were a good band, but never had the following of Sevendust, Limp Biskit, Smashmouth, or Third Eye Blind. They were an ok indy band for pathetic critics to enjoy while snubbing their noses at the top Rock Bands of the time.But in no way were they influential to the music scene of their time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame needs to stop letting head up their ass critics controlling who gets in to the Hall of Fame and who doesn't. There is a list a 100 miles long of bands that are being snubbed because of the moronic critics who snub their noses at them. Styx, Foreigner, Alice in Chains, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Devo, Motohead, Rage Against the Machine, Bad Company, Doobie Brothers, Jane's Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins (original line-up), Soundgarden, and so many others it's almost criminal.

Really? WTF… Free, Bad Company, Paul Rodgers, never been nominated, never been inducted and with more hits than almost everyone on that #%@&ing list? He only wrote one of the most played rock anthems ever, All Right Now, and the so called R&R Hall of in-Fame is going to snub him and his band mates yet again? Look at what this Man has achieved and the outreach he is involved with, particularly human and animal welfare. This is a continual affront to decency and talent and the disregard to a pioneering blues rock band. I'm embarrassed. I hope they will reconsider who they deem "worthy " of this honor, for I believe not considering this will further drive the R&R HoF to irrelevancy.
