BSLO - I totally agree, especially considering the actual March Madness (and everything else) tourney isn't happening. It's always nice to have a fun distraction. Posted by |

Boy this format is tough on me. I usually am on here at 9 PM Central or so. So with only 1 day of voting, I miss everything. My votes don't count, but the next day's bracket isn't up yet so I can't vote on that either. I know, I know, come to the site at a different time. But this is my routine for multiple years and the rest of the day I'm not thinking about it. Posted by |

Good morning everyone. With me being in charge of the top 500 songs/albums project, figured I'd explain how this works. We're gonna start with 500 songs list Posted by |
KING, Posted by |
Greg F, Posted by |
I'll replace Purple Rain with Orange Juice - Rip It Up (1982). Posted by Greg F on Sunday, 01/9/2022 @ 10:48am |
We're currently have 133 songs out of 500, if anyone else would like to add songs please use the form to do so Posted by |
Sure Raichu Posted by |
KING Correction: Posted by |
So we currently have 153 songs. Posted by |
We're now at 183 songs Posted by |
Gonna add 17 songs myself to round it out to 200: Posted by |
Once again posting the form link for those who didn't see it: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/14Zz1p6zPRsD2UKXezQpbxsgHlkglVDBwAnxjeSzSh-A/edit Posted by |
Hi, Raichu! Congratulations on doing an excellent job so far with your Top 500 Songs Project! 2 questions for you, though: Posted by Johnny on Sunday, 01/9/2022 @ 20:23pm |
Johnny, Posted by |
Also probably gonna keep adding songs myself while waiting for responses from other people. Posted by |
Ok so I've noticed a few repeat requests from the form responses, so I'm gonna list the songs that have currently been added on the list so that way they don't get requesting again: Posted by |
So that would make (on the main list) Kraftwerk, at #40 (not as a performer) or Joy Division, at #60, the highest-ranked acts not in the actual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, at #330, the lowest-ranked Hall of Famer? Posted by |
I'll replace Running Up that Hill and Jolene with Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird and Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express. Posted by Greg F on Monday, 01/10/2022 @ 10:33am |
Not sure how this works. What happens with all these songs? How are they going to be ranked? I saw Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is on the list twice, so I'd like to replace it with Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road. Posted by |
MichaelEU, Posted by |
Raichu, I'd like to add another Fab 5 of my own: Posted by Johnny on Monday, 01/10/2022 @ 16:14pm |
Raichu, here's your list in alphabetical order including the following songs I added: Posted by joker on Monday, 01/10/2022 @ 16:41pm |
Raichu, I just wanna point one thing out: My Girl by The Temptations is listed twice. Posted by Johnny on Monday, 01/10/2022 @ 18:44pm |
Here is a google doc with the 500 songs list as it is being added on if anyone is intrested: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_OhllWE-aneHhtaYZcWPM9Ol0v2yzQF4OL8NWsnCyvA/edit?usp=drivesdk Posted by |
As of right now, there are 359 songs. I have gotten songs requests from KING, Greg F, GothGuy2022, J.W, MichaelEU, Johnny, and Skylanderlord3. If anyone else have any song requests don't bother with the form, just post them here. Requests end Sunday. Posted by |
7 more Posted by joker on Tuesday, 01/11/2022 @ 14:46pm |
Raichu, here's 11 more songs I wanna add to the list, in no particular order: Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 01/11/2022 @ 15:29pm |
That Chumbawamba song is called Tubthumping. Posted by Greg F on Tuesday, 01/11/2022 @ 16:14pm |
That song by Chumbawamba should be: Posted by joker on Tuesday, 01/11/2022 @ 16:16pm |
Here is the current list of songs for the 500 song project: Posted by |
Might as well add some songs Posted by |
I'm not sure if these songs are on the Top 500 List, but because I love this project very much (and also because I can't help myself), I wanna add these songs before it's too late. So here it goes: Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 01/11/2022 @ 22:01pm |
If I'm allowed to add some more songs please add them, if not please ignore them. Posted by |
I nominated Kraftwerk's "Autobahn" on the Google doc without knowing that someone already nominated it. So I would like to replace that with: Posted by |
Alright lads, we have hit 509 songs. News songs can no longer be requested. Now we do have a few runner-ups that didn't make the cut, and those are the following: Posted by |
Correction: we have hit only 500 songs. The 9 in 509 was a missclick on my part cause I'm typing this comment out on my phone. My apologies. Posted by |
Forgot to reveal the full song list. Also I don't trust the randomizer I'm using to produce a solid top 20 that everyone would agree on so I'm gonna let you guys decide. Out of the 500 songs, which ones do you think should be in the top 20. Whatever songs you guys can agree on will be the top 20. the full song list is: Posted by |
Although my own personal bias would be very different, I would make the objective top 20: Posted by |
I have finally produced a list I liked from the randomizer I was using. The discussions for placement will begin now. The results are: Posted by |
Michael Jackson - Beat It is ranked at #3 and #199. I'd say it belongs closer to #3 than #199. Not exactly #3 but.... Posted by joker on Wednesday, 01/12/2022 @ 20:12pm |
OK, I understand that what I'm about to say makes me sound like an old Classic Rock man trapped inside a young man's body, but here it goes: (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones deserves to be ranked much higher than #307. And Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd deserves to be ranked much higher than #406. Posted by Johnny on Wednesday, 01/12/2022 @ 22:19pm |
Hello everyone. After the success of the FRL 500 songs list, I've decided to start the FRL version of the 500 Albums list. I'm still working on the spotify playlist for the 500 songs list, but I figured I'd start the album list today cause it would be easier to do than the song list because I don't think I can make a album playlist in spotify. Same rules apply as the song list, request 20 to 30 albums, though this time not in a google form, you come up with a top 20, and I put the rest of the results in a randomizer and post it here. I've already come up with 50 albums to start off and those are as followed: Posted by |
1. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds Posted by Greg F on Friday, 01/14/2022 @ 11:55am |
The Slayer album should be Reign in Blood. Oops my bad. Posted by Greg F on Friday, 01/14/2022 @ 12:15pm |
1. Leonard Cohen - New Skin for the Old Ceremony Posted by |
Raichu, buddy, I'm sorry to be a pest, but there's one slight correction that needs to be made regarding Pink Floyd: Shine On You Crazy Diamond was a Pink Floyd song, but not the title of an album. The actual album that song was from was called Wish You Were Here. Posted by Johnny on Friday, 01/14/2022 @ 15:09pm |
OK, here's my Fab 30 albums, to start with: Posted by Johnny on Friday, 01/14/2022 @ 15:44pm |
Johnny, you and Raichu have AC/DC - Back in Black on both of your lists. Either you or him need to pick something else. Posted by Greg F on Friday, 01/14/2022 @ 17:54pm |
Thanks for the heads-up, Greg F. Here's the album I wanna choose instead: Posted by Johnny on Friday, 01/14/2022 @ 18:42pm |
KING 30 Albums Jan 2022 Project Posted by |
A few albums for the list Posted by |
I think Tom H. meant to say this: Posted by Johnny on Friday, 01/14/2022 @ 22:58pm |
My album picks: Posted by |
Sorry, one of my album picks is misspelled. So here's the correct spelling: Posted by |
John R.C., just so you know, I already picked London Calling by The Clash for the FRL Top 500 Albums List. Don't worry, though. You still have one pick left if you wanna hopefully use it. Posted by Johnny on Saturday, 01/15/2022 @ 07:57am |
Ok so I've been noticed a lot of requests for the same albums and songs so I'm gonna add a new rule to these projects: before posting your request lists, please read over what the already posted request lists and if you see a album in one of the lists that you were gonna request, change the one you were gonna request to a new one. Posted by |
John R.C. you also doubled up on these album Prince - Purple Rain, Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Marvin Gaye - What's Going On, and De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising. Posted by Greg F on Saturday, 01/15/2022 @ 09:23am |
Doggone it! What a silly goose I am! I hope it's not too late to fix my mistake! Posted by Johnny on Saturday, 01/15/2022 @ 13:03pm |
Okay, here are my replacements for the ones that were already posted: Posted by |
Wait, let me change my "1989" pick with: Posted by |
Does anyone else have any requests for the 500 albums list. We currently have 227 Posted by |
What's up, Raichu? If you could give me some time, I'd like to put some more albums on the list. I may be awhile, but I promise I'll have some. Posted by Johnny on Sunday, 01/16/2022 @ 15:06pm |
OK, here are some more albums I wanna place on the list: Posted by Johnny on Sunday, 01/16/2022 @ 16:05pm |
I would like leave some more requests. Posted by Greg F on Sunday, 01/16/2022 @ 17:44pm |
Greg F., I don't mean to pop your balloon, but you accidentally doubled up on Fragile by Yes. I already picked Fragile. Posted by Johnny on Sunday, 01/16/2022 @ 20:01pm |
I'll replace Fragile with Michael Jackson - Thriller. Posted by Greg F on Sunday, 01/16/2022 @ 20:49pm |
I made a few spelling errors I need to correct for a few of my picks. Posted by Greg F on Sunday, 01/16/2022 @ 20:55pm |
Here's some of my choices: Posted by |
Raichu, if you're reading this, I wonder if you could do me a favor: Posted by Johnny on Monday, 01/17/2022 @ 15:20pm |
I don't think we should induct them that way. We should do it the normal way. Posted by Greg F on Monday, 01/17/2022 @ 17:12pm |
Greg F., when the time comes, I will totally say "YES!" to a snub list project for songs and albums not yet inducted onto Important Songs & Albums Lists. SIGN ME UP! Posted by Johnny on Monday, 01/17/2022 @ 18:02pm |
Hello everyone. There are currently 139 slots left for the 500 Albums list. The Albums currently on the list are as followed: Posted by |
Also somehow Elephant by White Stripes ended up on there twice even tho I could've sworn I didn't copy that when I copied and pasted Skylanderlord3's suggestions Posted by |
Van Halen - Hot for Teacher isn't an album. Hot for Teacher was a song on their album 1984. Posted by |
Thank you for telling me this Skylander. I'll replace it with something else when I think of something to replace it. Posted by |
The following albums have been added to the top 500 list: Posted by |
Before it's too late, I'd like to add some more albums to fill the open slots. Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 01/18/2022 @ 15:29pm |
Sorry to be a pain in the neck, but I need to make a spelling correction to one of the Gary Clark Jr. albums I chose. The album in question should read like this: Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 01/18/2022 @ 15:39pm |
I want to add these albums. Posted by Greg F on Wednesday, 01/19/2022 @ 13:02pm |
The following albums have been added to the list: Posted by |
I'm not sure if these albums are already on the list, but if not, I wanna add them before it's too late. Posted by Johnny on Wednesday, 01/19/2022 @ 16:15pm |
Alright ya'll, we have finally reached 500 albums. The list of albums are: Beatles- Abbey Road Posted by |

My top 20 Posted by Greg F on Thursday, 01/20/2022 @ 10:43am |
Ok I have a better idea: Instead of trying to figure out the top 20 for the albums list, why don't we just discuss which albums should make up the top 50. This part of the list would basically the best of all time list, the albums that had such a large impact, influence, legacy, etc. so far we have: Posted by |
My Top 30 Albums KING Addition Jan 2022. Posted by |
Slowly but surely we are getting close to the top 50. Also I'm posting the Discord server link for those who are interested in joining: https://discord.gg/38aKMHeTq8 Posted by |
Quick question for you all, and mind you, this is strictly out of curiosity: Is there still support for Greg F.'s FRL Top 500 Song Snub List idea? Because if there is — and only if there is — I have a few ideas on how to really make it popular. Keep me posted if you can. Posted by Johnny on Friday, 01/21/2022 @ 18:37pm |
Johnny, Posted by |
Is anyone else going to contribute to the discussion of what the top 50 should be? If there isn't much activity going on with this project I suspect the same for my proposed project. Anyways here are a few other albums I would put in the top 50. Big Star - #1 Record, Metallica - Master of Puppets, Radiohead - Kid A, King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King, The Beatles - Revolver and The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico. Posted by Greg F on Saturday, 01/22/2022 @ 08:20am |
I'll try to list what albums I think should be in the Top 50 later on. I'd do it now, but I'm a little busy at the moment. Posted by Johnny on Saturday, 01/22/2022 @ 13:09pm |
Here's my Top 50, in alphabetical order (Because it's easier for me) Posted by Johnny on Saturday, 01/22/2022 @ 17:11pm |
Raichu, one more thing if you're reading this: If you look closely at the Top 500 Albums List, you'll find that In the Heat of the Night by Pat Benatar is listed twice. Before you throw all the albums in the randomizer, I'd like to suggest an album to replace the duplicate Pat Benatar album: Posted by Johnny on Saturday, 01/22/2022 @ 17:24pm |
Raichu & Greg F., Posted by Johnny on Sunday, 01/23/2022 @ 13:15pm |
No I'm not interested in expanding it beyond creating a snub list. I intended it to be a list of 500 songs not in as just that nothing more. Me or anyone else could make it a genre nomination. Posted by Greg F on Sunday, 01/23/2022 @ 16:03pm |
OK, Greg. I respect your opinion. Hopefully, Raichu will get back to us and we can still create a Top 500 Song Snub List. Posted by Johnny on Sunday, 01/23/2022 @ 17:55pm |
Sure I think a snub list is a good idea, I just gotta finish the album list first. Posted by |
Raichu, how's your Top 500 Albums List coming along? It's been a while since I last heard from you. Is everything OK? Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 01/25/2022 @ 15:41pm |

I want at least five confirmed participants before I start the sub list project. So also else interested? If I don't get at least five participants by next week I'm not going to do the project because it would more worth it if than just me, Johnny and Raichu participating. Posted by Greg F on Thursday, 01/27/2022 @ 10:08am |
Raichu, to answer your question, I recommend you and I join Greg F. and help him kickstart his song snub list project, which I believe he wants to start next week. I already let Greg know I wanna be a part of his project, and if you're interested, I suggest let Greg know, too. Posted by Johnny on Thursday, 01/27/2022 @ 13:22pm |
Johnny and Raichu I know you're interested. I'm waiting for a week to start to try to drum up interest for the project. I won't plan on starting the project until I have at least five participants. If you guys would help me spread the word that would be great. Posted by Greg F on Thursday, 01/27/2022 @ 13:51pm |

I'm feelin' a little bit Country — AND a little bit Rock 'N' Roll. Let's see if I can combine the best of both worlds with these latest additions to the Song Snub List — starting with a Triple Dose of AC/DC. Posted by Johnny on Monday, 02/7/2022 @ 15:55pm |
Carpenters - Only Yesterday (1975) Posted by Greg F on Monday, 02/7/2022 @ 16:24pm |

I just copied all posts into a list. It would be easier at this point to just post it that way. Posted by Greg F on Monday, 02/7/2022 @ 17:51pm |

Greg F., I have a couple of questions for you regarding the Song Snub List: Assume, hypothetically, that a song currently on the Snub List earns induction onto the Important Songs List. Because as of right now, a couple of songs on the list are poised to earn induction. Here's what I'd like to know: Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 02/8/2022 @ 15:10pm |
No I don't have plans on replacing songs as they get inducted into the song project. Same would go for the albums. Posted by Greg F on Tuesday, 02/8/2022 @ 17:30pm |
Now I've always been a huge Slipknot fan. So, to quote one of their best ever songs, let me add these Slipknot albums to the Album Snub List, "Before I Forget." (Wink Wink!) Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 02/8/2022 @ 18:31pm |

There's still plenty of space left. There's currently 315 albums on the list. If there's more albums you guys want to submit you still can. Posted by Greg F on Monday, 02/14/2022 @ 00:05am |

A few more additional albums I'd like to submit to the Album Snubs list: Posted by |
in that case a few more albums for the list: Posted by |

Before I forget, I wanna add a couple of Judas Priest albums to the Snub List, in hopes that Judas Priest will (FINALLY!) be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Posted by Johnny on Wednesday, 02/16/2022 @ 15:03pm |
There's currently 451 albums on the list. Posted by Greg F on Wednesday, 02/16/2022 @ 15:35pm |
Hold on, Greg F. Let me try to knock it up to 455 with these 4 retro-rock albums. Posted by Johnny on Wednesday, 02/16/2022 @ 16:06pm |

Thought I'd try sneaking in these 30 albums of mostly metal while there's still space. Posted by Ray on Thursday, 02/17/2022 @ 13:51pm |
I think this means thanks to Ray's picks (Great choices, Ray!), we have just 2 slots left…and I have just the 2 to bump it up to 500. Posted by Johnny on Thursday, 02/17/2022 @ 14:04pm |
Thanks! And great choices, yourself! Posted by Ray on Thursday, 02/17/2022 @ 15:06pm |

My friends, this month was a GREAT month for knocking off songs from the FRL Song Snub List! Here are the songs that have been removed from the Snub List: Posted by Johnny on Friday, 06/24/2022 @ 19:13pm |
Sorry to be a pest, folks, but I have a couple corrections I wanna make regarding the Song Snub List. Roll with the Changes by REO Speedwagon was made in 1978, NOT 1976. My apologies about that. The second correction I need to make involves an AC/DC song on the list. I accidentally titled it "Let Me Pour My Love into You," but it actually should be titled this: Posted by Johnny on Sunday, 06/26/2022 @ 15:37pm |
Hello friends. So, I was looking through the Rolling Stone top 500 songs list for fun, and I had 2 thoughts while doing: the first one was pertaining to the little song clips you can listen to get a feel for them and how some of them aren't working fsr and I'm kinda mad about it. The 2nd basically was me going hey, what if we did a purge of the list and replace the purged songs with new ones. I think it'd be a neat little idea, and I tbh I just want to talk about something other than anything related to the projects and constantly being prodded to predict who will be nominated next year. What do you guys think? Posted by |
This is a neat idea. For starters I would purge any song on there that is less than five years old. I think songs need time to prove themselves to be classics and most of the time five years is enough time. I'll need to think about what I would replace them with. Posted by Greg F on Monday, 07/4/2022 @ 19:52pm |
As far as replacing the purged songs on the FRL Song Snub List: I also think this a good idea I could get behind, BUT…let's remember 2 important points: Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 07/5/2022 @ 16:16pm |
First of all Raichu was talking about the newest Rolling Stone 500 Greatest list not that snub list Posted by Greg F on Tuesday, 07/5/2022 @ 17:46pm |
Hey Greg, mind telling me where to find said spreadsheet Posted by |
Nick B left a link on the song project a couple days ago. It will initially open view only mode. If you want to contribute send him a request in Google sheets. Posted by Greg F on Tuesday, 07/5/2022 @ 19:23pm |
If anyone wants to do the Rolling Stone 500 purge thing, here's a google doc for it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1URwj7sPYeni9wFU_a2h1-lZnjXCLdVl4NVpX0GFobKw/edit?usp=sharing Posted by |
Ok, so I posted a google doc link for my mini Rolling Stone 500 songs purge list. Not much happened on it and no one else but Johnny really did much on it (thx btw). So change of plans, I'm posting the currently non-purged list here. But before we do that, I'm gonna ask if we could not just add random songs we happen to like in place of old ones. Think about stuff like did a song create a new genre, did a song help shape the sound of a genre, was a song a pioneer for those to follow, stuff like that. Also I like Greg F's idea of removing songs less than 5 years old (although some exceptions could be made based on other criteria to consider IG) Posted by |
Here's the current Rolling Stone song list for the whole Purge thing: Posted by |
2 things to say: Posted by |
Raichu, couple of questions for you: Posted by Johnny on Monday, 07/18/2022 @ 13:34pm |

Just to speed things along here, I'm gonna list both all songs that have more than one version on it and all the songs that are less than 5 years old: Posted by |
A couple songs I think should go. Posted by Greg F on Tuesday, 07/19/2022 @ 16:13pm |
2 more songs I'm gonna purge: Posted by |
Raichu, if you ask me, I think you should replace Crying by Roy Orbison with Pretty Woman -- yes, also by Roy Orbison. The reason I say that, and feel free to tell me if you already knew this, is that Pretty Woman was a major inspiration for the opening riff of Daytripper by The Beatles. Of course, Roy & George Harrison were great friends, well before they were bandmates in the Traveling Wilburys. And Daytripper is one of my all-time favorite Beatles songs. Posted by Johnny on Tuesday, 07/19/2022 @ 19:37pm |
Aight so Crying is being replaced by Pretty Woman and Cosmic Dancer is staying after hearing Skylander make a case for it on the Discord (which you guys shouldn't totally check out, or don't idc) Posted by |
I would replace Push It with Superfly and Keep Move on Up, replace Left on the Dial with Bastards of Young and keep Adore. Posted by Greg F on Wednesday, 07/20/2022 @ 10:25am |
Here's the link to the Discord server I mentioned earlier. I feel like you guys are sick of me posting stuff about the server, but I think it would help with some of the problems that this site has. Examples of this being: Posted by |
Heres the link to the duplicate song poll in case anyone missed it: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdrbc6LhNOuXof1CD6iEkojR10sOdGAkWu1LXYuINcdWZvmcQ/viewform?usp=sf_link Posted by |

Few grammatical corrections: Posted by |
The Judas Priest song is actually titled THIS: Posted by Johnny on Friday, 07/22/2022 @ 17:28pm |
I think the rock hall ranking should be updated by future rock legends as the ranking does not match recent inductees and nominations of the rock hall well. Posted by power on Friday, 04/14/2023 @ 09:00am |
These are the rankings of Rock Hall Revisited/Projected inductees. This has nothing to do the actual Hall of Fame inductees. Posted by Greg F on Friday, 04/14/2023 @ 10:42am |
Greg F, you are right. But it should be noted that the ranking is old and younger influential artists like Kanye, Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar are not even on that list, which is not suitable. Hence, the list needs to be updated. I appreciate the future rock legends provides us information about rock hall. I think it will be better to make update for the ranking. Posted by power on Friday, 04/14/2023 @ 13:00pm |
FRL doesn't do the rankings. The regulars involved in the Rock Hall Revisited/Projected do the rankings. They do it every five years roughly. It had been updated a couple times since the original list was made but FRL didn't put any of on the top page. The most recent update that was done is this thread somewhere. You can through it if you're interested taking a look at it. Posted by Greg F on Saturday, 04/15/2023 @ 16:02pm |
Greg F, I am new to this forum. I came here after 2021 and I do not know about the things about the ranking. Thanks for your comment. Posted by power on Saturday, 04/15/2023 @ 23:56pm |
So, I want the Rankings to be finished for the Performers, yet there seems to be a missing artist. Here's how the end of the list would go via the remainders: Posted by |
Figured out the error. It was Lionel Richie who was unranked previously. Got everybody now. Posted by |
Renumbered Extended Performer Rankings: Posted by |
It's Sweet that The 13th Floor Elevators appear in this ranking but Madness that Gary Numan and Iggy Pop are listed higher than Fairport Convention and Cliff Richard & The Shadows. Posted by joker on Friday, 10/25/2024 @ 18:25pm |
I mean, it is what it is. Just a jumble of "Hall of Very Good"...we made that extension list so so so so so long ago that there's probably another 250 names we could easily add to it at this point. Posted by |
