15 comments so far (post your own)The headliner for Sat night at The Hangout. Played all their hits. Did covers of Byrds 'Rock n Roll Star', a Grateful Dead song (the one about the 2 women, one in Chino & one in Cherokee) and one more I can't remember right now. Lead guitarist (not Tom) can really shred. Very large crowd for their set. Posted by Paul in KY on Wednesday, 05/22/2013 @ 15:28pm |
Closed out Bonnaroo. Played for 2.5 hours straight. Got all their hits this time. Mike Campbell can play a litle guitar. Looked like they were loving it. Huge crowd, biggest I've seen for a closing act in my 3 Bonnaroos. It was raining too! Posted by Paul in KY on Thursday, 06/20/2013 @ 08:30am |

2016 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee - Tom Petty! Posted by Roy on Wednesday, 03/2/2016 @ 20:58pm |
Thoughts and prayers for Tom Petty! One of the last truly great rockers around; I hope everything turns out okay but you never know. It would be a damn shame if the news is actually true about Petty's health problems. I always loved his work with the Heartbreakers and hoped one day to see him in concert. More developments hopefully later today and better news for one of the most rock's most iconic stars! Posted by Nick on Monday, 10/2/2017 @ 16:03pm |

Goodbye Tom. You've blessed this world with your amazing and wonderful music. It's a tragedy that you're no longer with us but I hope you're jamming it up in Heaven with Roy Orbison & George Harrison. Posted by Nathan on Tuesday, 10/3/2017 @ 00:58am |
My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Tom Petty on his untimely passing. I am sure that he will be missed, but his songs will endure. :-( Posted by Enigmaticus on Tuesday, 10/3/2017 @ 11:39am |
I know I wouldn't mind seeing a larger picture of Tom & a smaller one of Thom on the front page. Posted by Paul in KY on Tuesday, 10/3/2017 @ 12:37pm |
On Tom Petty: RIP Tom Petty (1950-2017) was an American original who with the Heartbreakers created 40+ years of incredible rock music. Tom Petty was rock n roll. He reached the highest levels of his profession earning Rock & Roll HOF induction and a Star on the Walk Of Fame. The Tom Petty hits were plentiful:American Girl,Breakdown,Jammin Me,Mary Jane's Last Dance, Refugee, You Got Lucky etc. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers made it look easy with well-crafted songs and Mike Campbell's guitar bending and singing in many Classics like The Waiting and Stop Dragging My Heart Around. Tom Petty's 40+ years of music will march on through the Heartbreakers and his many musician friends. They will continue to perform his music in tributes the rest of 2017 and in the future. I'm curious if Tom Petty will be given the honor of a 2nd nomination and induction for his solo work. It would also be interesting if the remaining Heartbreakers will have different singers sing some of the Classic Petty songs. Groups like INXS and Queen soldiered on after losing dynamic front men. Prayers and support to the Tom Petty family, friends, and fans on this difficult day. Petty lived his 66 years just missing his 67th birthday October 20. Thanks for the music! RIP, to one of my all-time favorite musicians of all-time. There really isn't much to say; the music speaks for itself. We all didn't see this one coming that soon. I'm glad I got to see him twice - most recently when he was the closing headliner at Bonnaroo '13. Thank you for the music. Posted by Jason Voigt on Tuesday, 10/3/2017 @ 23:55pm |
