The VP were one of the campiest acts of the late 1970s, and had a cool stage show. Like them or not, their material still has a lot influence today and gets airplay. The only detractor I can find about them musically was the ill-advised fashion change for their 1981 album "Renaissance", which could have brought them back from the post-disco slide. They certainly deserve a spot in the RHOF.

I was there at Riotfest, Dude!! Walked by their set. Did not see the Wall of Death, but just caught very end of their set.

Anyone who likes rock & roll, should go to Riotfest. Saw The Wu Tang Clan!

YES, PLEASE!!! YMCA IS SUCH AN ICONIC AND NOSTALGIC SONG FOR ME!!!

The Villiage People are iconic. They set the standard it's okay to be who you are with the song I am what I am. The YMCA and In The Navy. Talked to Victor on facebook and the interpretations on the songs get a little far fetched. Still these guys set the precedent on coming out. I think Ellen DeGeneres would agree. I am not gay not even close but no one should be afraid to be who they are. Automatically they set the bar. In a time when it wasn't okay to be gay. Put them in.

I am perplexed why Village People isn't inculded in the biggest snubs on this site , Village Pepole made some of the most enduring music of the 70s, with even YMCA, even being in the national recording registry, and one of the main reasons for Discos revaluation, was it's impotnce to the Queer community and The Village Pepole exemplify that, as i can't think of any other music that is as Queer as the Village Peoples music.
They should be inducted.

Have one of the most influential songs in history and their popularity increases over time

This screams HOF level career

Village People are way more influential than 95% HOF inductees, even if you don't like it, you have to admit this fact.

They should be nominated instead of 14-15 2026 nominees.

95% of Hall of Fame inductees don't deserve to be in. Who are the 5%? Are you implying a novelty act with one well-known song deserves to be in over the likes of David Bowie or Neil Young? Be serious, man.

Rest in Peace Victor Willis (lead singer, also the policeman and naval officer), 1951-2026.

Sorry to hear the horrible news on the TV and my X feed that Village People vocalist Victor Willis has passed away at 74. Outstanding lead singer and a KING FAV. Great voice and dancer as the policeman. Remember listening to the Village people and watching them on TV. 1 of my earliest introductions into music. In The Navy, Macho Man, YMCA definitely classic songs. Standing the test of time. I hope the Village People are inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the FRL Hall Project in the next few years. Village People are definitely unique and they light up an audience and the dance floor. They had more hit songs than some of the groups inducted. I think Go West and San Francisco are excellent songs too. RIP Victor Willis
