13 comments so far (post your own)The Tubes are an excellent band with a style bands can only dream of. Just 'cause you don't have a "greatest hit" or played on the radio, doesn't mean they are not worthy. It's the large majority of their body of work that stands up to anything that has been put out by other musicians / bands. Posted by michael on Friday, 01/25/2019 @ 18:50pm |
Just saw the Tubes for the first time since the 80s. They are all really talented players, especially drummer Priarie Prince and lead guitar Roger Steen. Their 80s pop hits kind of overshadowed their earlier work, which was incredible. Download the album “ What do you Wantt From Live” which was recorded in London in the late 70 s for a taste of how tight they are live. The sound quality is excellent, and the playing is top notch. IMHO, they deserve at least a nomination. Posted by Chuck on Friday, 03/15/2019 @ 16:02pm |
The Tubes were one of the best bands of the 80s & 90s. I saw them close to 20 times live, and every show was great. Who could forget seeing Quay Lude? the 2 foot platform shoes, The di*do hanging out of his thong, and pukeing in a bucket on stage. they paved the way for countless groups, and they deserve to be considered for induction into the rock & roll HOF before any more rap groups are. Finally saw these guys up in Cinn back in December. Great show! Played 2 sets. 1st set was the Completion Backwards Principle in order and 2nd set was other stuff. Still 2 original members. Lead singer was having a great time up there. Voice still good, although he must be in his 70s. Posted by Paul in KY on Tuesday, 02/8/2022 @ 07:00am |

The Tubes at Bimbos ranks as one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Posted by Michael C on Wednesday, 12/28/2022 @ 00:09am |
These guys were amazing years before the 80s. The music was always unique. Nobody sounded quite like them. And their shows were practically updated Vaudeville. So immensely talented. Even if a particular song didn't move me, the musicianship did. Posted by Shane Dyer on Tuesday, 05/2/2023 @ 20:21pm |
I don't buy the more tweet at least as all performer inductees. If so the hall has a prestige problem Posted by Mat r on Tuesday, 05/2/2023 @ 21:57pm |
HOF the tube's should have been considered a long time ago Posted by Gordon Quesnel on Wednesday, 03/19/2025 @ 13:19pm |
It doesn't surprise me that this group, albeit worthy, has not been considered for entrance into the rock 'n' roll Hall of Fame. Their lead singer, Fee Waybill, has left bitter taste in most who have worked together with lol him. Prior musicians, crew members, Sound guys, etc.. it's sad, as most remaining members are such sweet people. Posted by Gaz Manbro on Thursday, 05/15/2025 @ 17:15pm |
