In 1963 the # 1 money making band in the world was Cliff Richard and the Shadows, Elvis was at #2 and The Shadows were at #3. Now, for the Shadows 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Cliff Richard just released his 100th album and Hank B. Marvin has a new CD out this year (2014), so these guys are still playing. They made movies and were on TV in Europe every week for years. Most of the great British guitarists name Marvin as a principal inspiration. Jeff Beck, Peter Green, Clapton, Knopfler and David Gilmour to name a few.

I find it a total travesty that The Shadows, a band that has influenced so many of the worlds top guitarists are not in the Rock And Roll Hall If Fame. There is even a Hank Marvin Strat, so why have they not been inducted?

Bobby Freeman said that the best version of "Do You Want to Dance" was by Cliff Richard and The Shadows...and have you heard "It'll Be Me" by them which outdoes Jerry Lee's version?

Cliff Richard and The Shadows should most definitely be inducted into the RRHOF why - because every other British band that followed were inspired in some way by them, certainly by the Shadows, they were the first "Pop Band" lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass guitar and drums. They were the first !! indeed George Harrison or maybe it was John Lenon once said - No Shadows - No Beatles, That's how influential the Shadows were.
