Please consider The Seekers for inclusion into the RNR HOF. My one comment is "who was #1 on the charts in '64 when the British Invasion was getting red hot?" Judith's voice is in the Top 10 women vocalists of all time. Posted by Bob Rich. on Wednesday, 12/2/2015 @ 23:05pm |
totally agree, there predominantly folk style is not a reason to be snubbed. there are many inductees who you could not call rock n roll. there style and sound was unique, they represented the entry of australia to the global music scene, they knocked the stones and the beatles off the top spot in the charts , they were until they stopped touring in 2013 the longest all original member band still touring up to that point, there music still sells today, they have a following of millions of fans ,, what other criteria do you need ,, janet friggin jackson is on the list ! The Seekers are Australia's contribution to rock and roll. Looking at all of the genres making up R&R the Seekers have certainly found a niche. Talented musicians, incomparable vocals (go ahead, compare Judith Durham to ANYone) and music that touches the soul. If it doesn't transport you SOMEWHERE, it ain't R&R. And this certainly does. Should be nominated without delay. We ain't gettin' any younger. The beauty of R&R? Has stood the test of time, as have The Seekers. And, oh yeah, from an American, R&R has no political boundaries. The Seekers time for inclusion into the R&R HOF is long since past due. Got my vote. Posted by charles miller on Tuesday, 02/11/2020 @ 17:44pm |
Why are the Australian group The Seekers not in the Rock and Rool Hall of Fame? Posted by James L. Martin on Wednesday, 04/29/2020 @ 20:53pm |
They should be in the RNR Hall of Fame they knocked the Beatles out of the #1 spot and also prevented them reaching the #1 spot. Any group that did that should be in the RNRHOF. One of the best groups of the 60's hands down. Posted by Bill G on Saturday, 07/4/2020 @ 21:23pm |
Rock and roll has such a broad and all encompassing reach so much that The Seekers blend of folk/pop/easy listening paved the way for many folk and rock acts that followed. In 1965 they outsold The Beatles and The Rolling Stones while knocking the Beatles off the top of the charts. They also filled a stadium in Australia with over 200,000 fans, a country record that stands till today. The original four members stayed with the band through their 50th anniversary tour in 2014 and the same four are still alive today. Their music is loved the world over till today. Their music endured the test of time and is still so relevant today. They are Australia's best gift of music to the world. Judith Durham has the most pure vocals ever heard. The Seekers must be inducted in the HOF. In that there is no debate. Posted by Bernie Ulincy on Tuesday, 08/3/2021 @ 20:25pm |
Seekers absolutely belong Judith has one of the best voices I ever heard......Put them in and The Monkees which is another crime Posted by Raymond Ja Ayling on Friday, 10/29/2021 @ 09:07am |
A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without the Seekers is like a baseball hall of fame without Babe Ruth. Posted by Anthony P Passaretti on Monday, 05/9/2022 @ 21:02pm |
Rest in Peace Judith Durham, 1943-2022. Posted by |
Yes, the Seekers belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So do the Monkees. Snobbery is prevalent on the governing board of the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Posted by Gary Williams on Sunday, 08/7/2022 @ 10:12am |
The Seekers SHOULD be in the R&R HOF !! Posted by Philip Priemer on Sunday, 08/7/2022 @ 11:31am |
Oof. This one hurts. RIP Judith Durham. One of the most beautiful voices in music. Posted by Philip on Monday, 08/8/2022 @ 15:26pm |
No one can deny the outsized presence and influence of Australian musical acts. Until The Seekers, there was virtually no presence on the American pop music scene from Down Under. The Seekers blew open that door, and we have been enriched as a result. The influence should be acknowledged. Posted by Zach Martin on Monday, 07/22/2024 @ 20:21pm |
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be ashamed of themselves. The Seekers have sold over 60 million albums worldwide and at one time they were beating out the stones and the Beatles and the Seekers had the best female singer in the world. Posted by Pat Oakes on Friday, 09/13/2024 @ 20:41pm |
Speaking of being ashamed of The Hall Of Fame, it's an absolute crime not having The Wiggles in yet, The Seekers, Men At Work, & Jet are one of those Australian bands not getting the reorganization they deserve. Anyway, The Wiggles pioneered one musical term that can be used to describe them: Musical Culture. Bouzoukis, mandolins, accordions, they used some of those non rock & roll instruments in their songs. The Wiggles also pioneered in Believing in your efforts, if there was anyone that said that The Wiggles don't belong in The HOF, then you're a square! The Wiggles also pioneered in allowing music from other cultures, like African, Greek, Mexican, and Irish Music. So, The Wiggles deserve it, and The Seekers do too. #WigglesInHOF Posted by Drew Smith on Monday, 10/6/2025 @ 22:22pm |
