Thanks to the hall for finally inducting the midnighters along with my father Hank Ballard. long overdue. I hope Billy Davis gets in also, cause he also deserves it. I remember those days the midnighters would come to my house in Atlanta. One midnighter even bought me drumset! Jackie Wilson always made me laugh! Love u midnighters and again congrats!

This doesn't really have too much do with The Midnighters, but the Inductees page doesn't list if Charles Sutton is alive or not. Can whoever is in charge of this site fix that?

NORMAN THRASHER and LAWSON SMITH were inducted , they actually ACKNOWLEDGED ALONSO TUCKER along with the OTHER MEMBERS !! Obviously, they felt he should be in.

WELL, RRHOF ?? What's your explanation for THAT ?
ALONZO TUCKER was also an accomplished SONGWRITER, who co-wrote several of JACKIE WILSON'S biggest hits, like the Top 10 smash, "BABY WORKOUT", "NO PITY (IN THE NAKED CITY)" and "TEASE HER, SQUEEZE HER (BUT LOVE HER)" ALONZO was in the group even BEFORE HANK BALLARD was !!
ALONZO was ALSO the uncredited writer of Jackie's smash "DOGGIN' AROUND"...but , unscrupulous Brunswick Records head, NAT TARNOPOL, removed ALONZO'S name from the writing credits...and replaced it with the name of HIS SON. PAUL TARNOPOL !!

I'm sorry, but I don't think that "Ronnie James Dio" was a member of THE MIDNIGHTERS. Perhaps that comment would have been better off posted on another thread.

On INDUCTION NIGHT, MIDNIGHTERS members LAWSON SMITH,(Abdul Bin Asad) and NORM THRASHER actually acknowledged the importance of ALONZO TUCKER..who was not only an ORIGINAL MEMBER of THE MIDNIGHTERS , but also GROUP FOUNDER. I was pleased as Billy Davis' closest friend and founder/president of the Doo-Wopp Hall of Fame of America, to be the one lobbying successfully to have the RRHOF retroactively induct Billy. Hank Ballard and The Midnighters were a first year inducted group of the DWHOFOA at Boston's Symphony Hall. It was Hank's grand finale as he and the group closed the show before 2,600 adoring fans. Hank was my personal inspiration into the world of music. He would call me late at night and ask for Mr. Humanity, as he called me. It was if a baseball fan received calls from Babe Ruth—even better!! Long live Hank and The Midnighters. None were ever better.

Thanks for the history lesson. While serving in the US Marine Corps and attending radio school in Norfolk Virginia at the Navy base, l was singing "Finger Popping Time" in the shower and a fellow Marine named Denny Walsh started calling me "Hank." So, for the next 4 years and 6 months I was called " Hank." I was cool with the nickname.
