The Four Tops are one of the few R&B groups that have received The Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award .

Did you know that in December 1988, The Tops had actually been scheduled to board Pan Am Flight 103 to return to the U.S. for Christmas after completing their European tour. However, they were late getting out of a recording session and overslept, causing them to miss the ill-fated flight which crashed in Lockerbie, Scotland, after a terrorist bomb was detonated on board [Whew]!!!

The Four Tops were together, and remained together for an incredible 44 years, from 1953 until 1997,with all of the original members, that's over four decades, having gone without a single change in personnel during that time...a record that, to my knowledge, remains unbroken to this day.
