The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame website says Chicago's legacy lives on with artists such as Journey, Toto, and Sufjan Stevens.

Sufjan Stevens seemed to be one of earliest hipster folk acts who paved the wave for bands like Mumford & Sons and Fleet Foxes (which I couldn’t get into that kind of music cause it’s watered down and trendy enough not to listen at least for me), but I can’t picture him getting nominated and inducted at first year - he’s too small and obscure.

Only the critics know who that guy is, so I could see him in a Tom Waits-like situation years from now. But I do see Linkin Park, Interpol and maybe Pink being nominated six years from now though.

Yes, he's too small and obscure, but his music is very worth listening to. He is very creative. He has multiple solid albums.

I doubt Sufjan Stevens will be inducted from current trend, but his discography is one of the best among musicians of this century. Also, he is not just an act hyped by critics (I disagree with what some arrogant old user posted here). His Spotify numbers are pretty impressive and huge (15M+ monthly Spotify listeners), considering he only has two gold albums. He is niche, but it's a pretty big niche. Also his relavancy remains well come compared to a lot of his indie peers (Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, that ilk), which may make difference to him 10-20 years down the road

To add to this:

One of his songs from Carrie & Lowell is trending in TikTok, meaning he has an audience among the youths today. And outside of the general public, but he has a lot of influence among artists today. Billie Eillish just recently praised "Carrie & Lowell" in an interview months ago. St. Vincent and Bryce Dessner of The National played with Sufjan during the tour for Illinois.

And I just know that artists who have cited Elliott Smith as their influence like Phoebe Bridgers have also cited Sufjan as well.

Am pretty sure that if Mr. Stevens is ever inducted, it will be when he is very old or dead.
