He's done more for music than most considering he is a composer, who pushes the envelope with beyond its limits. Top 40 on the radio shouldn't be a qualfier, just ask the Archies. A few notes in and he is instantly recognizable. The greatest musicians in the world turn thier heads when he plays. People who don't know,want to knowwhat they just heard. He's truly on another level. And its not just the speed and accuracy but he truly cares about the future of music, not just the guitar. Well, thats just my take. Good luck Steve.

Steve catapulted when Frank Zappa touched him on his crown with the golden wand and because of his virtuoso of excellence, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame really does not know where to put Steve because he has literally blown all the doors down and opened a new on that they are not ready for yet. In other words Steve is way before his time.

Steve Vai needs to be inducted!! The previous comments are right, he has made ground break moves in the music scene and works miracles with the guitar! The fact that he's branched out and done features with new bands like Polyphia, who should also be recognized for their musical excellence is just one of the ways he shows that he's trying to get good music to the people and bring up these new talents! On top of that, the expression and feeling in his music, as well at the talent in his playing and song writing, it's just a no-brainer; Steve Vai is one of the greats!
