Depressing is the paradigm since Nirvana? LOL depressing has been a backbone since a hell of a lot longer than Nirvana. Posted by Gary on Saturday, 01/5/2019 @ 03:40am |
I'm thinking the RHOF is WAY too politically driven (not R & D politics, business politics). If an artist or group has not achieved some degree of notoriety in rock music, they are passed over. One comment above stated, "She not rock." Besides being grammatically ridiculous, it is incorrect. No, she isn't hard rock, metal, or even loud, but she has produced some of the best, most recognizable rock ballads ever. Some have been featured in major films (City of Angles, I am Sam, Toy Story 2), TV, and commercials. In fact, her performance of the Randy Newman song "When She Loved Me" made her an Academy Award Nominee...for life! She founded the Lilith Fair, which was the number one touring festival of 1997 and a top 20 concert overall (see info in Wikipedia), not to mention the first of a kind all-women artist festival that launched several female artist's careers! Pile on the number of multi-platinum and gold albums, induction in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and her unbelievable philanthropic efforts, and you have to conclude she is the total package! Hall of Fame inductions, no matter the industry, should be for practitioners who were not only great at their craft but advanced the industry/body of knowledge overall and without a doubt, Sarah fits that bill. I think she eventually will be inducted. Surfacing is such a huge album and it goes 8x Platinum. She will take the Sheryl Crow spot in the future, if not in the next year. Posted by power on Friday, 10/13/2023 @ 09:51am |
Today, Sarah announced the news of a Fumbling Towards Ecstasy: 30th Anniversary Tour next year celebrating the album's 30th birthday. I find the news exciting because I love the album. Fumbling Towards Ecstasy is Sarah's best album imo. Posted by Elle Dee on Monday, 12/11/2023 @ 17:22pm |
Unbelievable that Sabrina Carpenter is at 20% while Sarah is only at 17%. Sheryl Crow wishes she was half the songwriter that Sarah is, and Sarah has a much longer history of writing quality stuff over the years. Sarah has won Grammys, she's won plenty of Junos in Canada, and she created Lilith Fair for crying out loud. Which was at the perfect time for when women were ascending in the late 90s, it really helped to propel them to the next level. It is a shame that she hasn't even been nominated so far. England thinks they get disrespected, try being Canada. Posted by eboe on Saturday, 02/21/2026 @ 15:15pm |
"Angel" being used in all the dog abuse commericals might actually have hurt her popularity. She was really great in the 90s. She had a very long break with writer's block, but "Better Broken" is still a solid album. Posted by Jim C. on Monday, 04/6/2026 @ 22:23pm |
