If I'd have known it would turn out to be the stumbling capitalistic bureaucracy it has become, I'd have voted for NYC to get it. I've been at La Cave,Otto's Grotto and was one of the originals at Adele's Bar on University Circle in 1967. This RRHOF is a sham and I will not visit it unless it majically reforms and honors other than the chic and fashionable. You call yourself rockers. Phft. HOF SUCKS WITHOUT RORY QUIT MESSIN WITH KID Posted by Rob on Wednesday, 02/11/2015 @ 23:55pm |
Rory is one of rock and rolls greatest musical talents. For him not to be inducted is pure horse shit. Posted by Bob Powers on Wednesday, 02/3/2016 @ 14:26pm |
You can go on and on. But with who the dredge up these days to put in the HOF, its just so shameful that Rory gets no recognition. Asise from Michael Jackson and Madonna, now Joan Jett and a handful of tunes. Shame on the HOF, as much as I'd love to see hime up there posthumously, I'm ok with him not being there too. Can only hope Slash can help make it happen. Posted by Jim Schaefer on Monday, 08/29/2016 @ 16:04pm |
I have seen a lot of artists in my time including Led Zep, Free, Springsteen, The Jam, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Santana etc. Rory was the best live performer I have ever witnessed. The fact that Rory is not in the R&R hall of Pop is to his credit. The R&R hall of Fame has as much credibility as the Grammys. Posted by David on Friday, 04/5/2019 @ 23:37pm |
Thank You Rory Gallagher, you were and are and Amazing person and I have been lucky to listen and watch your work ,that was not a job to you but a true love! Thank You SLASH for what you are doing for Rory,That is RIGHTEOUS and it would make Rory SMILE. Posted by Tony Negri on Tuesday, 05/18/2021 @ 23:37pm |
Rory deserves the HOF nod due to his influence on others, his skill and artistry and dedication to not selling out his music. Posted by James Forde on Wednesday, 06/23/2021 @ 15:53pm |
The Irish Hendrix. And even Hendrix admitted Rory was a better guiatrist than he was. He should have been in here long ago. Posted by Declan Moylan on Friday, 12/10/2021 @ 08:23am |
U2 are in the Hall of Fame. And Madonna. But Rory isn't. WTF? [Beats head against nearest wall] Posted by Seán on Saturday, 01/1/2022 @ 09:47am |
They (HOF) should hang their heads in shame and go back to counting the dollars. Posted by ROBERT SHEPPARD on Thursday, 02/3/2022 @ 12:40pm |
Rory Gallagher was an iconic guitarist with all the talent a member of the hall of fame should require to be an inductee. But he was not commercial enough for their criteria. Multi instrumentalist wrote almost all of his songs except some other blues great songs. He should Have been inducted long before so many others that have been it's disgraceful and obvious of the halls bias for commercial artists, p.s. he sold over 30 million albums. Rory Gallagher was and has continued to be, long after his passing, an astounding, quintessential Artist--a guitarist, song writer and performer who was highly regarded by Jimi, Clapton, and Paige for his singular unique mastery of the Blues, a Giant among the many who were famous but not classic-- and. he has always been a favorite of working musicians for decades because he reached a kind of superior yet casual perfection. Rory respected the Blues and all the men and women of the Blues throughout history that he'd studied and revered. He was a Blues Man. But he truly rocked it. Even John Mayall couldn't touch that guy. Ask Jeff Beck... When I saw Rory Gallagher "live" for the first time at The Blue Monk in Berkeley, it was like nothing I'd ever experienced before or since--stunning music and a volcanic stage presence that just crushed the audience--he came back for three encores and blew everyone away that night, rocking until 3am! I've seen all the greats "live" for the last 60 year's, man. All of 'em--and if Rory isn't inducted into the Hall of Fame then it's all bullshit. "A Million Miles Away" and "Edged in Blue"? -- the artistry alone of those two pieces is just like "Shut-up, man!--This Dude is playing." Great back-up bands, too. C'mon. It's time Rory got the Love & Respect he deserved but didn't live long enough take a bow, some respectful applause for the greatness that he created. Let's make this Right. Bring him in from The Cold. Posted by Michael James Mason on Tuesday, 07/5/2022 @ 01:51am |
Growing up in the 60's & 70's and enjoying the vast array of music was the best. Iconic performers like E.L.P., The Guess Who, Grand Funk R.R., Steppenwolf, Mountain, Alvin Lee, Johnny Winter, Bad Co., B.T.O., Boston, Foghat, Ted Nugent, Robin Trower, UFO, Marshall Tucker, and Peter Frampton (to name a few) helped create the soundtrack of some of our lives. I think they embody the best of rock & roll....they have yet to be recognized & celebrated by the R.R.H.O.F. ??? Posted by Pete from L.I.,N.Y. on Saturday, 02/18/2023 @ 08:20am |
Been watching him and his band on YouTube And so grateful, that I can start my day off with amazement how truly a gift he was Posted by Gerard C Smith on Saturday, 07/15/2023 @ 11:16am |
if musical excellence is a prerequisite to entry then what's the problem? The man has this in spades. Add to this love of his music, it's roots, live performance.....His musical peers recognise his greatness just wish the corporate suits would wake up to to this...Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, indeed. What upsets me the most about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not so much how such great Rock and Roll talent like Rory Gallagher, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Mountain, Jethro Tull to name just a few, but rather those who ARE IN like Whitney Houston, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen, Dolly Parton???? What a sad shame that this goes on ! Posted by Dale Devino on Monday, 01/22/2024 @ 12:56pm |

when are you going to put Rory Gallagher in the hall of fame its long pass due Posted by richard william wells on Wednesday, 07/24/2024 @ 08:37am |
The claim to be a shrine to honor the greats of rock n roll but they should be sued for fraud. Its disgusting and insulting to what used to be a form of music where instrumental ability and creativity were worshiped and appreciated and no longer visible. The Cleveland rock and roll hall is a joke. Its run by the nerds who wanted to be popular in their high school's but got bullied instead for being so uncool, and this is their revenge. I have no issues with diversity tastes, but to ignore the real deal artist's who paid their dues, and actually inspired future generations of musicians with rap music artists or worse yet dance music artists like Madonna is gross. Wow.... I'm so dumbfounded to learn Rory isn't inducted! I swear I will be sick to my stomach if Dolly Parton gets inducted to hof before rory or Jack white! Posted by Mylena on Wednesday, 05/21/2025 @ 00:50am |
It's such a travesty that Rory Gallagher has not been added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What don't you get? Posted by Jane Suta on Saturday, 09/27/2025 @ 20:52pm |
Who is next, madonna, oh I forgot she is already in your hall of shame, bullshit. Cleveland was a great rock and roll town once upon a time, but no more. Sorry to see that. I guess the plan to put the hall there instead of NY was new yorks idea so the shame that would eventually be attached to the institution in the future would reflect on the Midwest instead of the big apple . Where are the roll models to inspire kids to learn an instrument. You are causing as much harm to society as Trump, but commerce it what inspires you and that's the lessons the current and future kids will take from their industry leaders. You suck and make me sick. Posted by Art levine on Wednesday, 12/31/2025 @ 09:02am |
