I don't think Oasis, Suede, or Pulp should make the HOF. All of them have been very pop-based and also quite fond of borrowing others' music. One thing with Placebo, their music is theirs, like it or not, it is original, they have also lasted the distance and still fill venues because the fan base knows they can hear new music, they don't go for a nostalgia trip.

Just found out about this band. Had never heard of them back in their heyday. Certainly not 'Britpop'. Definitely Indie Rock. Lead singer has a distinctive high tenor voice. Lyrics are unusual and profound, at times.

Have placed 9 of their songs on my iPod. They are still together & I sure hope to see them play sometime.

Highly recommend them.

Yeah, I really like Placebo. They had a couple of decent hits that got some airplay in the very late 90's, but what makes them great is, like you say, excellent lyrical content and vocals. And their musical originality, plus outstanding talent in the band. Even though they covered the Kate Bush tune, "Running Up That Hill", it is very different, and the video deals with depression..

Placebo are an amazing alternative rock band with profound lyrics and great musicality. Being a 3 piece band with such a big band sound is always amazing. Brian molko has such a unique and clear singing voice and his writing is very poetic.

They should be inducted into the hall of fame as they have staying power with new fans always discovering them and they draw crowds around the world.

They really deserve the recognition, especially if they are inducting the likes.of Cyndie Lauper... Placebo most definitely deserve a spot.
