32 comments so far (post your own)This will probably be one of those 60s acts that will randomly show up within the next 3 years on the Nominations list. PR & the Raiders are reportedly one of Steven Van Sandt's favorites and I don't remember where I read it but he is shocked himself and he's questioning why they aren't in. He even made the comment they were the first to have a commercially successful anti-drug song. You know what that is. haha Posted by Jason Voigt on Wednesday, 09/18/2013 @ 21:16pm |
Mark Lindsay and the 1960s thru 1971 Raiders should have been inducted years ago...I Don't understand that they've never been nominated - and Mark Lindsay should be in for single artist AND non-performer (songwriter, arranger, producer and head of A & R for a major record label-United Artist) Posted by really rock n roll on Tuesday, 11/12/2013 @ 04:39am |
one of the best bands ever. ive enjoyed all the groups records since the 1960s.belonged in for years. Posted by john jarvis on Friday, 06/13/2014 @ 15:34pm |

This is a hard one. They had a lot of short-lived members. Paul Revere and Mike Smith were the only constants. Not sure who to list as inductees. Posted by Roy on Tuesday, 10/7/2014 @ 07:54am |

The people who lived with and appreciated Paul Revere and the Raiders' music are beginning to leave us. We are left with voters who don't really understand their impact. They deserve to be in the HOF, although I doubt they ever will be. I guess it's rock 'n roll snobbery. Imagine that! Posted by Pamela on Wednesday, 10/22/2014 @ 12:40pm |
With great respect for Roy whose contributions on this site (and likely elsewhere) are immense, the list of PR&R inductees would be the members who gained national prominence and inspired budding musicians in the 1960’s through the early 70’s due to their albums, charting singles, and massive number of television appearances. Two basic eras: Posted by Daryl on Sunday, 09/15/2019 @ 19:37pm |
The songs never get old. I listen to them and am propelled back to a wonderful time in my early childhood. Still get goose bumps when I listen to their songs. They had so many song styles and voice diversity. So amazing that transcends time Posted by Cheryl crandall on Wednesday, 08/5/2020 @ 06:53am |
If "Ups and Downs" doesn't get you going, you're in sad shape! : ) Paul Revere and the Raiders deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without a doubt! They are about 30 years overdue! Posted by John D. on Saturday, 03/27/2021 @ 21:32pm |

PR & the Raiders were one of the best American bands of their era, with many memorable songs that still sound damn good today. Compare them to their contemporaries - like the Zombies, who had 3 hits and maybe 1 or 2 albums in just a few years. But the Zombies are in the Hall. Their sound was a bit more polished with excellent musicianship. The Raiders were more of a garage band with great original songs and excellent showmanship. They were also quite influential to the punk band era of the 70's. Posted by EddieC on Saturday, 08/7/2021 @ 13:13pm |
Grew up with them in the 60's and 70's and had the incredible privilege of watching them live in a lounge act in Vegas in the 80's. They blew the doors off the 200 seat venue. Will never forget it, till the day I die. Thank you Raiders! Posted by Scott on Monday, 08/9/2021 @ 15:54pm |
Rock and Roll HOF is a sham. It is absolutely poorly run, the guitars and relics displayed are rusted out so bad you can hardly recognize anything. Obviously a get rich quick scheme by folks that have no idea how to preserve historical relics. So sad because it should represent everything good to come out of Rock and Roll. And to not have Paul Revere and the Raiders inducted but to induct JayZ to represent Rock and Roll. BARF!! I'm Sick!! Posted by Big Jim C on Wednesday, 11/17/2021 @ 13:22pm |
Totally Agree With JIM C the fact that these rockers should be in ... . Posted by DrRock on Thursday, 11/18/2021 @ 00:22am |
Rest in Peace Keith Allison, Paul Revere and the Raiders' drummer, 1942-2021. Posted by Joe S. on Friday, 12/10/2021 @ 11:52am |
Allow me to correct the above: Keith Allison was a singer, bassist and keyboardist, not the drummer for Paul Revere and the Raiders. Posted by Joe S. on Friday, 12/10/2021 @ 12:27pm |
The RRHOF is a joke at best but since it exists, the Raiders should be in it. Posted by Joe Friday on Friday, 12/31/2021 @ 11:17am |
How can the HOF be so blind, deaf and dumb all at the same time. This band was inspiration for all musicians in the 60s. Hits...they had hits. Popularity...they had popularity. Records sold...50M. To not have them in is a national disgrace. We became musicians in the 60s and 70s because of these guys! They broke the ground that we all tread upon. Paul died never having seen his name or the band's name in the HOF! Shame on this organization...you disgrace the meaning of the HOF. Posted by Carmine Strollo on Sunday, 05/15/2022 @ 20:48pm |
I'm 67 years old. I've practiced law for almost 40 years. I spent probably seven hours in the Hall of Fame one day. From the very bottom to every floor, to the John Lennon exhibit on top. Posted by Chiles Townsend on Saturday, 05/28/2022 @ 23:52pm |

Yes they should be in the R & R hall of fame. There are bands that haven't accomplished what they have and yet their in. It's crazy that this is so political. There's a saying but I will not put it on here. Please find it in your conscience to put them through. Posted by Linda Schindlbeck on Sunday, 06/5/2022 @ 17:57pm |
This band has the statistics that they need to make it into the Hall of Fame. They have the requisite number one hit with Indian Reservation. They have numerous top 30 hits. These songs sound as fresh and alive today in 2022, as they did when they were recorded years ago. Great guitar licks. Great bass guitar licks. Great vocals. Great lyrics. The lyrics on Kicks are the best anti-drug lyrics of all time, and Mark Lyndsey's intonation is breathtaking. They were a television mainstay during the 1960s, which is another box they have checked for the Hall of Fame. They have longevity as another key attribute. Mark Lindsey and Paul Revere were together for 18 years. In the second stage of his career with the Raiders, Paul Revere toured for another 20 years. Were they influential on other great groups? The answer is yes. They recorded Louie Louie, which is a rock classic. The Monkees crushed it with I'm Not Your Stepping Stone. Other great bands, including David Bowie covered their songs. There are many bands in the Hall of Fame who don't have the credentials that the Raiders have. Vote them in now!!!!!!! Posted by Charlie Colucci on Thursday, 06/30/2022 @ 00:08am |
It's ridiculous that Paul Revere and the Raiders are not in the HOF. I guess they're not hip because of the silly costumes they wore. I guess they're not hip because they gained their fame lip-synching on Where the Action Is in 1965-67 (like they were the only popular band to do that). I guess they're not hip because they had a string of top 40 hits from 1961 through 1972. I guess they're not hip because they always put on a dynamite live show, whether the year was 1965, 1969, 1986, 2001, or 2012. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. It's not rock and roll, and it's certainly not representing the most famous artists of the rock and roll era. Posted by Ron Fowler on Friday, 11/18/2022 @ 21:24pm |
Not having PR & the Raiders in the RRHOF speaks volumes about the rock hall and takes nothing away from this amazing band. If any rebuttal to the RRHOF is desired, can ther be anything better than putting a PR & the Raiders album on the turntable and the volume on "loud"? True rock was revolutionary and didn't need or want any one's approval. Posted by Grant Burgoyne on Wednesday, 12/14/2022 @ 01:31am |
PR &Raiders were the top American band of the 60s ! Posted by Pat Toolis on Thursday, 12/15/2022 @ 09:36am |
I would've thought Paul Revere & The Raiders would get a Tarantino bump after their songs were prominently used in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (including "Good Thing" in the trailer. Posted by Bookhouse on Monday, 01/9/2023 @ 15:26pm |
Shame on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for not putting these great guys in. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does not know great talent when they see it. This band has been an inspiration to a lot of musicians.....GET PAUL REVERE AND THE RAIDERS INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME A.S.A.P. Posted by Valerie Ehrlich on Sunday, 08/13/2023 @ 00:20am |
They could not, absolutely could not, be missed in the 60s. They sold millions and millions, and played to and influenced so many kids who went on to become rock n roll fans and musicians. And they were really good. Just listen to their hits. This is especially understandable if you look past the costumes (which were kind of cool compared to the early Beatles' suits, Beach Boys' surf outfits, and other band outfits of the era), and their steady gig on Dick Clark's (who certainly deserves rock n roll credit) TV shows. Oh, and since some kind of countercultural element seems to be essential for HOF entrance, let's also not overlook the fact that they were produced by Terry Melcher, who also produced "cool" HOF "approved" stuff like early Byrds albums, Beach Boys hits, etc. Even more countercultural, Melcher lived at at his mom's (Doris Day's) home on Cielo Drive, where the Raiders would all hang out and write songs, and where Sharon Tate was subsequently murdered by the Manson family. Melcher, the Raiders' producer and their pal, even thought about producing a guy who Rolling Stone Magazine itself once touted as one of the ultimate counterculture members: Charles Manson. Paul Revere and the Raiders were my favorite group. They put on a great show with lots of wonderful songs and entertainment. They had many fans. They called me their groupie. What ah honor. They should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Dianne Waters, always a Raiders fan Posted by Dianne Joyce Waters on Monday, 03/11/2024 @ 02:18am |
