"She is not Rock and Roll".

I'm actually getting sick of hearing this...and I've addressed it before, so let me reiterate...

"Rock and Roll" is DIFFERENT than "Rock".

"Rock and Roll" actually means and includes ALL derivative forms , progenitive forms and offshoots of what is actually originally called by that term.

That INCLUDES RHYTHM & BLUES. Hello ? Mc Fly ?? am I making my point clear here ??

RHYTHM AND BLUES was one of the PROGENITORS of what we today call "Rock and Roll".

Webster's Dictionary defines "PROGENITIVE" as

"tending to or able to reproduce itself : reproductive".

For the uninitiated, that means simply that RHYTHM & BLUES was and is one of the FOUNDING FATHERS of Rock and Roll.

In fact, in no small part, Rock and Roll BEGAN when White music artists began covering Black Rhythm & Blues.

It was people like the late Alan Freed who opened the doors of exposure of R&B to the mass White audience . He did this in the early 1950's as a Dee -Jay in Cleveland...and that is why Cleveland is the home of the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME .

So, to deny induction into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME of Black R&B artists simply kills the idea and the point of the type and genre of music that spawned Rock and Roll in the FIRST place.

So, for all of you out there who still feel that "Rock and Roll" only includes white "Rock" bands...Please do yourselves and the rest of us a favor....

And please...PLEASE DO RESEARCH on the HISTORY OF ROCK AND ROLL !!

And do it before you begin making blanket judgements on who you think belongs in the R&R HOF...

...And who does not.

While, at one and the same time...

making yourselves look stupid in the process.

****PATTI LaBELLE****

Well...now that I've gotten THAT off my chest...

Let's talk about Patti .

She is one of the most POWERFUL vocalists in Rock and Roll History .

I think she even rivals the incredible vocal power of Aretha Franklin.(maybe even MORE).

Does she belong in the Hall of Fame ? YES.

Should she go in as a solo artist ? NO.

Not yet, anyway. I think that ALL of the Bluebells (aka LaBelle) should go in FIRST....

Then Patti solo later.

Let's not create still ANOTHER situation where a Special Committee has to come in and correct an induction mistake that should have never occurred in the first place .

Besides-what if the H of F NEVER got around to inducting the GROUP ?? That would be a travesty.

Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash, Nona Hendrix...and Cindy Birdsong should go in as a GROUP.

(yes,CINDY. she already got shafted from induction with The Supremes. Let's not do it again).

All of them have has successful careers outside the group. All you have to do is look up their articles in Wikipedia under their individual names.

I know that opinions are like noses...everybody has one - and some of you will say NO to the GROUP...

But, whatever you want to call them, Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles, or LaBelle....

They deserve to go in together .

Wenn Aretha Franklin In der Hall of Fame ist dann gehört Patti LaBelle ebenfalls dorthin.Sie ist eine der größten Stimmen der Welt. Ich habe fast Alle Live erlebt. Patti ist the Empress! Schande daß sie nicht schon lange dabei ist! Jetze zu ihrem 70 Geburtstag wäre es fällig.

Patti Labelle, Nona Hendrix,Sarah Dash they were ahead of their time. They sang wild horses, black roles in the sky, and many other. Performed with Rolling Stones and the Who. All the singers in Labelle could sing.
Nona Hendrix was a great song writer
Labelle were glam rock please give
them their do. It's only fair.
These were true talented

Sarah Dash performed with Keith Richards, as well as a lot of solo work outside of LaBelle.

Patti Labelle, Sarah Dash, Nona Hendrix
should have been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall
of Fame years ago. Who's better? Who has accomplished more? Rock n Roll is the baby of
'Rhythm & Blues' Let's get real - The Hall is trying to take the 'Roll' out of their title, and make it the 'Rock Hall of Fame'. Rhythm & Blues is The Template, and was created in AMERICA,
by your BLACK VOCAL GROUPS.

I totally AGREE with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer , Michael "Mickey" McGill of The Mighty DELLS !!
Rhythm and Blues has been thrown under the bus in recent years...and replaced with RAP/HIP-HOP.
That is a mistake !! Without R&B, there would be NO RAP, NO HIP-HOP, NO ROCK & ROLL for
that matter !!Yet, Rap artists are being inducted, while classic R&B artists are being IGNORED.
Since the change in the Non Com members and the CEO, deliberate efforts have been made to keep R&B Artists out of the Hall. It's high time that this practice STOPPED !!
If I would add anything, I would say that ALL of the Original Blue Belles AKA LaBelle, be inducted:
Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash, Nona Hendrix
AND Cindy Birdsong (who was snubbed from induction with the Supremes) . SHE was an original member just like the rest.
And, while we're at it, How about some overdue inductions for: The Chi-Lites, The Manhattans,The Whispers,The Dramatics,The Marvelettes, The Spinners, The Commodores,The Delfonics , The Stylistics,Rick James & The Stone City Band,Gene Chandler,Barry White, Lou Rawls, Dionne Warwick, Johnnie Taylor,Mary Wells, Jr. Walker & The All-Stars, Betty Everett, Nina Simone,The Pointer Sisters, and numerous other deserving R&B artists that have been bypassed as The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame transitions to the "ROCK" Hall of Fame.

Patti Labelle can sing anything
and I mean anything. Nona Hendrix
is Rock, and Sarah Dash sang Time is on my side with Keith Richard's
The Bluebelles opened up for the
Rolling Stones and the Who as the bluebelles and Labelle sang wild horses and Black Holes is the Sky
And Patti Labelle was in Who's Tommy. She was the Acid Queen
Stop Rock and Roll. That is a big lie
Shes done it all with the groups
Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles
and Labelle. With Cindy Birdsong
They deserve this more than any other group
There first million seller was I sold my heart to the junkman
LADY MARMALADE WAS A HUGE HIT. GET THEM INDUCTED

Patti LaBelle has many, many hits, but if you're looking for just "pop rock," there's at least three: "Lady Marmalade," "Stir It Up," and "New Attitude." Get her in ASAP !

Somewhere over the rainbow shows the range a diversity that patti has. The 70's group Labelled with Nona Hendrix and Sara Dash also deserve to be inducted! Let's be real. How can Chaka Khan be inducted but not Patti Labelle?? Chaka is very good also, but Patti is the bomb!! Let's partition for Patti and the group Labelled to get inducted in rock and roll hall of fame! I detect a bit of prejudice here.

Yes indeed I believe that Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles should have been inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame all members of the group have vocally been power houses they each have set the bar on singing but Patti has something that's so powerful her voice and when you hear it sends chills up and down your spine, Sarah Dash the Silver throat was soooooo beautiful and the gift that she gave us was amazing and Nona Hendryx her voice also is very amazing so you see they should have been inducted but you can induct them now
