In 2035, One Direction will most likely be just a minor footnote in pop music "history." It's true that the music industry has molded them into a current pop "sensation." But it's not a lasting or successful formula. Posted by Barry on Tuesday, 12/3/2013 @ 09:04am |
To all of you Directioners, here is an order. Listen to every last song by your so-called "favorite" artist. Then listen to every song by every inductee to the hall. Then compare, and then judge Posted by Karl on Wednesday, 01/22/2014 @ 16:15pm |

Yes. "EVERY single one". It will help them judge. TEEN GIRLS KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MUSIC!! The JONAS BROTHERS is THE BEATLES TO THEM!!!!!!! If they have that kind of philosophy, then 1D would be Led Zeppelin to them. If you keep that in mind, then they could form their own genre called "TEENYBOP ROCK". But hey, still 1D gets no chance. Unless some girls log onto this site and sneek into voting time for the 2035 rock and roll hall of fame class and they trash the commite and give 1D all the votes. If that happens, rock is dead. Jonas Brothers are more like the Dave Clark Five, in that no one cares about them anymore. Posted by GFW on Saturday, 01/25/2014 @ 13:02pm |

They do NOT write music nor produce...or even play any instruments...they have ZERO musical credibility. Posted by El_Jesus on Thursday, 05/8/2014 @ 05:02am |
Britney Spears, J-Lo, 1D... thank god we have El_Jesus here to slay these sacred cows! Posted by GFW on Thursday, 05/8/2014 @ 12:16pm |
Unfortunately, if we do get a new person like Jann Wenner, then One Direction might be inducted before Stevie Ray Vaughan. As big of a nightmare that would be, that's what might happen. Because, I realized that when he took so long to induct Rush that he only likes what is most popular at a specific time period. And if we get someone new like Wenner, then I'm sorry, but 1D might be in before SRV Posted by Karl Singleton on Thursday, 06/12/2014 @ 23:48pm |
Not before NKOTB or NSync...PLEASE Posted by DJ Dave M on Monday, 07/6/2015 @ 10:10am |
Boy bands will never make it into the HOF; they’re nothing but fads. Posted by The Dude on Friday, 07/13/2018 @ 11:02am |
One Direction? No. Harry Styles? Maybe. Posted by Nick on Sunday, 04/11/2021 @ 06:57am |
One Direction were a fad, zero longevity in the Bieber era, and zero classic or iconic singles (though "Story Of My Life" could be their "I Want It That Way"). No-shows. Posted by Henry on Saturday, 09/25/2021 @ 19:39pm |

I didn't think boy band members were supposed to die this young. Rest in Peace Liam Payne, 1993-2024. Posted by |

The comments saying teenage girls do not know music are wild. If you go back to The Beatles, who were inducted both as a band and individual artists, and see who attended their concerts and bought their records in real time when they were a boyband, it was predominantly teenage girls. Literally them facts. Same with 1D. They will 100% be inducted to the Hall of Fame the minute the band qualifies. Their first three albums broke Guinness World Records. They consistently grabbed top spot on US charts and premiered higher than The Beatles during their first North American tour. Harry Styles will also get a solo artist induction probably the year he qualifies because his As It Was single is already added, and he is only just beginning his solo career. Louis Tomlinson will be inducted too. Probably not as quickly because he's not a cultural lynchpin the way that Styles is, but Tomlinson will be inducted someday as an industry change-maker because of the different ways that he's credited for building his own fandom as well as 1Ds. I mean, just the way the audiences worldwide made his No Control a single regardless of1D's plans is already a culturally significant moment in pop history, and as a co-writer with Liam Payne for the most 1D songs, it'll be weird to induct the band but not the songwriter. Not sure about Niall Horan and Zayn as individual acts to make it into the American Hall of Fame… yet. As part of 1D, 100% guarantee. This is not about people's tastes. You don't have to enjoy 1D or Madonna or Fleetwood Mac or The Beatles, but it is about cultural impact on music and society in general. Spice Girls made it into UK's Hall of Fame, but they will make it into a US one too eventually. Britney Spears will make it as well. Cher just made it. Britney has time. Ringo Starr got in for musical excellence, so there's a way to fit in other legends with the same catch all category. Again, 1D's fandom portended social changes by 10-20 years the way that The Beatles reflected social changes of their time, so yes, will be inducted, not a debate.
