Even though there latest album is a mess NKOTB were one of the pioneers of the boyband... They paved the way for groups like *N'SYNC, and The Backstreet Boys.

This group STILL packs stadiums and is one of the BEST shows out there. I've been to A LOT of concerts and very few groups do I have the inclination to see again. NKOTB are one of the TWO I would pay to go see again. These guys deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Saw them the other night as they headlined their Mixtape Tour, which featured Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, Salt n Pepa and Naughty by Nature. I never thought there would be a day I would see them live. See, when I was in 2nd/3rd grade, the girls loved them. The guys would be into Batman, Ninja Turtles, Dick Tracy, etc and the girls would obsess about marrying one of the New Kids someday. The guys would tease the girls, and make the New Kids the butt of many jokes for several years. Even when Jordan Knight and Joey McIntyre had short-lived solo careers. Sometime during the mid-2000s, VH1 would "try" to get the group back together for a "Bands Reunited" episode, and failed. Jordan was like "You guys can get us back together" and he was proved right. The boys proved everyone wrong on their own a few years later, and toured like crazy - which is still happening today.

The show only cost me $15 so I figured what the hey. But I was blown away. You gotta respect a group that has seemingly a brotherhood on and off-stage, that still can sing, and have all the right moves. I am absolutely no expert on choreography, but those guys really had it together that night. For five guys near the age of 50, they really looked like they took good care of themselves all this time, and hell that's a motivation. (And yes, I know their occupations are entertainers, but still...) They really connected with the crowd, which had all generations (mostly mothers taking their daughters, and some men including myself were out there too) - they even did a "Thank you" video montage to Tiffany, who arguably helped kick-start their career more than anyone.

Do I think they'll get in the Hall? I'm not so sure. Yes, they are a boy band and they are not shy to that title (they wrote/performed a new song about the history of boy bands recently). But it also depends on how you define a boy band. Were the Beatles one? The Monkees? The Rock Hall hasn't really been kind to that genre, so I'm not holding my breath there.

And if you love concerts, be sure to check out NKOTB before they lose their mojo. You'll be glad you did.

Subjectively, I agree. I don't love NKOTB and they're not rock. No comparisons between the two in terms of talent, but I don't think NWA belong if we're looking at rock and roll.

Objectively, they absolutely belong. The hall has become a place for musical history in general. Groups like NWA broke the seal in non rock acts who simply influenced music. We're all gonna disagree on talent-on some groups more than others. Hated though they may be, they belong.

I wouldn't be surprised if New Kids On The Block were nominated in 2023, 2024 or 2025. Definitely innovators with their 1st class choreography dance moves and change off singers. Paving the way for future artists. Influenced a new generation of younger singers and groups. NSync and The Backstreet Boys come to mind. These groups were successful and had many fans. Both will receive Rock & Roll HOF Consideration in the future. There were a bunch of 90's Singer and Dance artists. Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and the like. Hillary Duff I believe was 2000's. She's a FAV of mine. I think Tonight is something Jeff Lynne ELO could have created and scored a hit. It's very creative. Step By Step is interesting as they go through the Steps. Step 1...Step 2... and so on... Jordan Knight is 1 of the best singers of his time. Very smooth delivery.
Some of the group NKOTB has had more success on their own than others. They are great entertainers and put on an entertaining show. NKOTB have sold over 80 million albums. They remind me of The Spinners with their different singers. The Spinners also should be in the Rock & Roll HOF. I wonder if NKOTB studied old footage of The Spinners and groups before them. With the shake-up of the RRHOF a few years ago, it's possible New Kids On The Block has a better shot for induction.

I don't know if New Kids on the Block belongs in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. But just imagine how pissed the Monkees would be if NKOTB were really inducted hahaha

I have been a NKOTB fan since 1988. They definitely deserve to be inducted. They paved the way for so many boy bands and they are still out there shining and making hits!! If they are never nominated it will be a shame. I think they got their groove back. I love the fact that they have included several other 90's & 2000's groups in their tours and other musical ventures. I hope for their sakes they are included someday.

They have been around for 40 years. I have been a fan since 1989. I finally got to see them live for the first time last year and I'm waiting and hoping to see them live again. The tickets were $25 thanks to them working with live Nation and live Nation's concert week sales. They not only influence other bands and performers they care about their fans. During the pandemic they hosted a weekly livestream on YouTube so their fans could interact with them because their tour or cruise was canceled. When one fan was making and selling masks made from new kids bed sheets and donating all of the proceeds to Danny Wood's charity Remember Betty, word got to Danny and he personally bought a whole bunch of the masks to show his support for her efforts. If that's not influential I don't know what is.
Do they deserve to be in the hall of fame? You bet they do.
