Faves: "Carnival" "San Andreas Fault" "River" (great). When she is not singing her original songs in her voice (mannerism) she has a lovely, pure voice for folk & church songs. Strident for union classic "Which Side Are You On?" As to rock & singer-songwriter, you should also watch her videos & live performances. Live in Central Park: good covers of David Bowie "Space Oddity" and Neil Young "After the Gold Rush" a.o. Also "Because the Night" cover on MTV rocks. Her bands are good including guitarists. Sorry to ADD, but I remember "Break Your Heart" is such a great, passionate song. The original video is a complete fictional story. See YouTube. You may also see a later live performance. Someone mentioned "Break Your Heart" recently. Maybe it was in a movie score. Posted by Anton on Thursday, 10/5/2017 @ 03:17am |
Voice of an Angel. Her first solo Album Tigerlily is a masterpiece. Not bad for a little Gal from Jamestown NY. Posted by Phil Crowley on Wednesday, 03/13/2019 @ 18:12pm |
Made and sold more records then some groups currently inducted. Posted by Doug Kaup on Wednesday, 11/17/2021 @ 14:06pm |
If R.E.M. were the kings of alternative -college rock of the eighties, she was the queen. Posted by DLOC on Tuesday, 10/11/2022 @ 21:33pm |
10,000 Maniacs should be in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. No doubt about it Posted by Mark Morris on Wednesday, 11/1/2023 @ 21:59pm |
Please, joan Jett is in the rock and roll hall of fame Natalie has been a front woman for a successful band, A fabulous solo artist, who is a gifted songwriter amazing stage presence!! It is a joke that there is even a discussion about it!! Posted by Kevin on Sunday, 07/28/2024 @ 07:41am |
I've been thinking this for years. Her albums are amazing and she's multiplatinum selling since 10,000 Maniacs. Posted by Mark Morris on Thursday, 02/6/2025 @ 00:23am |
Her case is drastically helped if combine 10,000 maniacs and her solo career together. Separately, neither is enough. Even together, she likely falls short. Combined record sales is around 17 million. She had about 7 hits (one is a cover). With a ton of strong candidates with better resumes not in, I don't see her earning a nomination or succeeding in the ballots if she ever gets a chance. A vote for Natalie is NOT a vote for 10,000 Maniacs who have their own page, people. Without 10,000 Maniacs, nobody would care about Natalie. People who go solo always bug me to some extent. Posted by eboe on Wednesday, 02/18/2026 @ 02:01am |
