Dear Melanie is in a recovery room right at this moment after having emergency surgery. She has performed here locally twice in the last week. Here spirit is the same all of these years but her heart is heavy for never being accepted my the RRHOF. It is her time. Let's get her in! Posted by Jim Lange on Tuesday, 12/20/2016 @ 22:27pm |

I think the Nickel Song says it all. They pay you a nickel and they want a dollar song. The phrase body and soul comes to mind. So she got out, saved her soul, started her own label and just kept performing. So the industry hates her for it. Just like they've blacklisted Jim Carrey. They wanted him to do the sequel to Dumb and Dumber and he said pay me what I'm worth and they refused and made Dumb and Dumberer without him. Without Jim Carrey. How embarrassing. The whole entertainment industry is just a dehumanizing machine. I think it's to Melanie Safka's credit that she found her own path. Being blacklisted by those warthogs from hell is a greater honor than being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Posted by John on Wednesday, 06/10/2020 @ 22:05pm |

Melanie was an inspirational artist and a pioneer akin in my opinion to Linda Rondstadt and Joni Mitchell. She should have been inducted to the Rock N Roll Hall in her first year of eligibility. Today, the Hall is a joke, especially when I see people who are known for just one song and they are in. As far as Rock, they put in Country and Rap, why? Melanie should have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a long, long time ago. What gives? Posted by George F Sherwood on Wednesday, 09/18/2024 @ 18:12pm |
I've loved Melanie's music since I was a snotty little kid. She was so much more than Brand New Key. From I Don't Eat Animals, to Bobo's Party to Candles In The Rain she was a wonderful unique talent that really spoke to my heart. I wish I could have seen her again before she died, that was quite a shock. But to know that she was still delighting people with her meaningful beautiful music is a comfort. If there is a heaven Melanie is right there singing to the animals. She will be remembered forever, and I hope someday the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame will do the right thing and induct that sweet soul. Posted by Kelly on Thursday, 10/31/2024 @ 14:07pm |
