I like Madonna but often feel her greatness is overstated. She is sure marketable and influential but so many artists she's influenced are TERRIBLE.

I think her works from 1983-1990 are pretty solidly awesome. I feel like 1997-2001 was kind of her resurgence of good music, but i think despite those two periods she has mainly just wallowed in her own praise.
