Lenny Waronker is an influential American record producer and longtime executive at Warner Bros. Records, widely credited with shaping the label's artist-friendly culture and helping develop some of the most distinctive voices in pop and rock from the 1970s onward.

Waronker began as a producer, working closely with artists such as Randy Newman, whose career he helped nurture from early releases into critical acclaim. He was also instrumental in the breakthrough of Rickie Lee Jones, producing her debut album and supporting her rise to mainstream recognition.

As he moved into an executive role, Waronker became known for championing artists with strong creative identities rather than immediate commercial appeal. He played a key role in supporting and developing acts like Prince during his early years at Warner Bros., as well as fostering the careers of R.E.M., Madonna, Paul Simon, and Dire Straits within the broader Warner system.

He later became president of Warner Bros. Records, where he helped create an environment that prioritized artistic freedom—allowing musicians to take creative risks and build long-term careers. Waronker's legacy is less about a specific "sound" and more about a philosophy: trusting artists, investing in originality, and helping shape one of the most influential eras in modern recorded music.
