3 comments so far (post your own)I mean, he played with Fats Domino for years, toured with the Blasters and filled in on tour with the Stones. He also recorded with the Strat Cats and the Blasters. He had his own fan base in Europe when Fats toured there in the 80s. Maybe a lot of people don't know about them, but they should. Isn't that the role of a museum? He played every tenor sax solo on Little Richard's recordings in the mid 50's. Had a top hit for his recording of "Walkin with Mr. Lee". Hear many of his solos on the CD Worlds greatest rolk n roll drummer, Earl Palmer. The sax solo was an essential part of R and B in the 50's. Lee's tone was so tough and distinctive that you can always pick him out. The extended version of Sllipin and Slidin is quite an example of his work. He played live at the Brass Rail in New Orleans with Paul Gayten. I heard him there many times. He could also play jazz. He once played Flyin Home there one night.
