Johnny combined Celtic with Rock with Zulu maskanda music, creating a unique crossover genre. He wrote and sang in isiZulu. He united South Africa's diverse peoples. He also risked his life to battle apartheid. His impact was enormous in many ways both in and beyond music. RIP Skeyi. Posted by Richard D. Logan on Sunday, 04/7/2024 @ 10:08am |
His music reached populations unknown to the us market. He endured and extended a branch of musical love during a time of epic divide. Not unlike the Irish during the Troubles. Johnny described and sang for the resistance against an occupying force. Posted by M Walker on Saturday, 11/22/2025 @ 00:48am |
