One of the most enigmatic and authentic performers and writers of all time. Although, Mr. Hartford had for the most part a rather cult following he was probably the first one to mix "hippie ideology" with the laid back style of bluegrass and country. He painted a romantic picture of the south as well as Mark Twain or even Tennesee Williams (Hartford cousin), while still being able to maintain his own identity. He, also broke down barriers for other band and performers who began country rock era. Hence the birds and eagles
