Irene Cara had the potential to be just as big of a superstar as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey later became. Cara had two major hit songs which were inescapable in the early 1980s. She won an Oscar, two Grammys, and a Golden Globe. She sued her record label because she was not receiving her royalties and she ended up being blacklisted by the music industry. Her career was irreparably damaged and it's doubtful that the Rock Hall will ever consider her for induction.
