Elton John: The 1960s Albums Posted by |
Crossed 1 off my musical bucket list, as I saw Elton close out Bonnaroo 2014. He generally sat at a bright red grand piano (which he played the shit out of), and had a 7 or 8 man backing band. 2 of the band's members had been with him over 40 years. Of course, he played em all. Only big hit he didn't get to was "Don't go Breaking My Heart". Guessing Kiki Dee wasn't available to duet it with him. Largest crowd I have seen for a closing act in the 4 Bonnaroos I've attended. Must have been 75,000 there. You could tell he was loving every minute of it. Hope y'all get to see him sometime. The Rocketman soundtrack didn't crack the Top 40. It stopped at # 50, and fell to 78 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Posted by |
Elton John Studio Albums Posted by |
I think the main reason for the lack of chart success of the Rocket Man soundtrack is because it is a covers album. Yes, the movie is popular at the moment. But I'm sure people would rather buy the Elton John compilation CDs on the $5 Wal-Mart rack then get the soundtrack. Posted by Jason Voigt on Sunday, 06/23/2019 @ 15:11pm |

The new Lion King soundtrack debuted at # 31 last week on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. This week it went up to # 13. It did much better than the Rocketman Soundtrack (# 50). Posted by |

Don't forget about the members of the Elton John Band not being included for induction.. List of qualified members posted by Roy on May 28, 2020.. I may even want to add backup singer Cindy Bullens to that list.. She was great!.. Posted by Will N. on Wednesday, 09/2/2020 @ 22:08pm |
Apparently James Pankow wrote the horn parts for Elton John's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, but never got credited. Elton John and Chicago were both at the Caribou Ranch around the same time producing their albums, Caribou and Chicago VII. Posted by |

Clearly, 80s-90s Elton John and solo Peter Cetera music doesn't mesh well together. Two completely different styles musically and lyrically. I'm not too crazy about this mix, but the 90s portion is way better than the 80s portion. Posted by |
LEONARD COHEN / ELTON JOHN / PETER CETERA Posted by |
Elton John was the # 1 charting solo artist and the # 1 charting artist period on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart and the U.S. Billboard 100 Singles chart for the 1970s, and Chicago was the # 1 charting band on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart and the U.S. Billboard 100 Singles chart for the 1970s. Their styles and sounds are very different, and when you listen to all their hits side-by-side, in chronological order, they don't mesh well together, but there is a way to listen to their songs together that would make them sound great back to back. I'll start with all the 1970s Elton John and Chicago hits first, and then I'll pick out and make lists of the Elton John and Chicago songs that would actually sound perfect together. The years listed with the songs are not necessarily the years the songs charted, but the years the albums the songs came from were released. Posted by |
