I saw this rising star at Hangout 24. She played the main stage at about 4 in afternoon. Was an entertaining set. Her and her band dressed up like Mad-Max-football-players. At end of set I clapped politely and went on to the next one.

Since that time (7 months ago) she has blown up and is now headlining fests and selling out arena tours, etc. Some of my friends at Inforoo seem to think she's the next great young star, in mode of Madonna and Lady Gaga.

I (in no way) thought at end of set 'Wow! What a set! This girl is a star!!!'. She may prove me wrong.

Want to update my comment above to say that 'Pink Pony Club' is one hell of a song. Don't think Lady Gaga (as an example) has done one of those. Chappell Roan may not have a 'Just Dance' or 'Pokerface' song yet, but (IMO) she's got an awesome song that Lady Gaga has never managed of that type.

Truly a breath of fresh air can't wait to see what she does with her career. Bringing back a new wave sound similar to Kate bush and Cyndi lauper. I'd call her the # one pick for this years eligible artists. Pitchfork named " good luck babe" song of the year. Such a catchy and unique chorus and firey bridge. She got a lot of heat for being pro GAZA/anti Harris, not fitting into cookie cutter politics but really having her own voice, and I foresee her career becoming more political like lauper and Kate did, as she is a true artist of the people, a grassroots original in a time filled with industry plants, and a reflection of the zeitgeist and queer expression.
