Hey Ben,
Yeah, you got me curious as to the fact of Blues Image opening for Cream in Miami in 1968. Did a little research on the Rock venue where Blues Image was the house band in early 1968 for Thee Image, located near Miami Beach, FL. For a 2 or 3 month period they opened for The Mothers of Invention, the Lovin' Spoonful, The Yardbirds, Cream, and the Grateful Dead, who did about a weeklong stint there. Upon further review, it appears Blues Image then ventured to Los Angeles, and took up some sort of residency in a similar type Rock venue called Thee Experience, later in '68 and into 1969. Maybe the same owners or promoters with the club name's being similar. Blues Image also did quite a few tour dates opening for Iron Butterfly in 1969, so Iron Butterfly must have recruited Mike Pinera from Blues Image at some point. Probably beginning the dissolution of the band Blues Image who only released one more LP in 1970, their final collaboration..

Even though they had a limited number of albums the quality of those albums was excellent. Ride Captain Ride was a big hit. They deserve a look at the Rock and Roll Hall.
