Uncovering the Next Generation's Hall of Fame
Future Rock Legends predicts the 2018
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees
This year is the twelfth year that we have taken a crack at predicting the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees. Over that time, most of our predicted artists eventually got inducted, or at least received a nomination. However, there are 21 artists we've previously predicted over the years who have never made the ballot. Take a look:
Joy Division | Brian Eno | Sonic Youth |
T. Rex | Johnny Burnette & the Rock N Roll Trio | Devo |
Fela | Patsy Cline | Junior Parker |
De La Soul | Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels | Roxy Music |
Pixies | Nina Simone | Dick Dale |
Phish | Harry Nilsson | PJ Harvey |
Judas Priest | Tommy James & the Shondells | The Moody Blues |
That would be a great ballot! And yet not a single one of those artists has ever had the opportunity to be inducted by the Rock Hall voters. When there are so many deserving artists, it's incredibly difficult to breakthrough the logjam. It's an awards show cliché to say "it's an honor just to be nominated," but in the case of the Rock Hall, it's absolutely true.
So, here's to hoping the Nominating Committee fills the ballot with artists who will finally get their first chance to call themselves a "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominee."
Now, for the 2018 predictions...
Future Rock Legends predicts the following 15 eligible artists will be on the 2018 ballot:
- Radiohead - Although the entire notion of being in the Rock Hall makes Thom Yorke uncomfortable, Radiohead will certainly become first ballot inductees in April.
- Rage Against the Machine - Yes, Tom Morello is a Rock Hall insider, but don't let that distract you from the fact that Rage were one of the most ferocious artists of the 90s. This is the first year they are eligible to be nominated.
- Soundgarden - The Rock Hall took care of grunge's biggest artists first (Nirvana and Pearl Jam), but now they need to return to Seattle and induct one of its best.
- Janet Jackson - Janet just resumed touring after taking a break to start a family. A third consecutive nomination seems highly likely.
- Stevie Nicks - Some of the best Rock Hall writing in the last year has been Inspirer's "Induct These Women" series. They highlight the fact that there have been 21 men inducted into the Rock Hall more than once, but no women. Stevie Nicks could be the first.
- The Cars - The Cars are one of only two artists (Nine Inch Nails is the other) who haven't been inducted after finishing in the top five of the Rock Hall Fan Poll (finished 5th last year and 3rd the year before).
- Link Wray - The guitar pioneer's name hasn't appeared on the ballot since 2014, but with the acclaimed release of Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World, he's never had a better chance to get over the hump (Rock Hall Nominating Committee members David Fricke and Robbie Robertson appear in the film and Stevie Van Zandt is on board too).
Rumble Baby! One of the coolest movies ever! Always my honor to honor your father. As we did at the Seminole Hard Rock. Rock Hall is next! https://t.co/k3bVW33zJu
— Stevie Van Zandt (@StevieVanZandt) July 28, 2017 - Bad Company - Speaking of Stevie Van Zandt, his wife Maureen has been complaining for years on Twitter that Bad Company hasn't been nominated. With all of the recent 70s rock band inductions, it might be time for Bad Company to join their peers.
- LL Cool J - LL Cool J has been nominated three times, but not since 2014. This December, LL Cool J will become the first hip hop artist to receive the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors. It only seems right for LL to get his Rock Hall honors before Dr. Dre gets inducted a second time.
- Dr. Dre - Twenty-five years after his landmark album, The Chronic, HBO's docuseries, The Defiant Ones, depicted Dr. Dre as one of the most important cultural figures of the last 30 years.
- Billy Preston - When you look at Preston's career and how it intersected with seemingly half the artists in the Hall of Fame, you have to believe that if he ever gets nominated, he'll be inducted easily.
- Harry Nilsson - Musical influence ebbs and flows, but it sure seems like there is currently a Nilsson renaissance.
- Chuck Brown - Last year, Dave Grohl made his debut on the Nominating Committee known by personally getting Bad Brains and Jane's Addiction on the ballot. The Nominating Committee is generally amenable to new members' choices in the first year, but Grohl may find the group less receptive to edgy picks this year. Grohl could potentially champion D.C. legend Chuck Brown, who was featured on his Sonic Highways series. (Brown also happens to have been Previously Considered, long prior to Grohl's arrival).
- Joe Tex - Rock Hall Nominating Committee member Questlove has been singing the praises Joe Tex in recent months. Tex could return to the ballot for the sixth time.
- The Smiths - After a one year absence from the ballot, The Smiths should return this year and receive their third nomination.
[Predictions posted September 15, 2017]
Artists are eligible for the Rock
Hall 25 years after releasing their first record (anyone

Next month, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominating Committee will be meeting in New York t discuss who should be nominated for induction into the Class of 2018 in the Performers category. There are a number of artists that we have already inducted into the Revisited/Projected Rock Hall Project that I believe are on the shortlist and most qualified for actual RRHOF inductions. And these do not include who we will be inducting for our Revisited/Projected Project by October, though I think a few newer potential inductees on that end come to mind. Assuming there will be 19 nominees this Autumn, I think who will get nominated may turn out to be: Posted by Lax34 on Sunday, 08/20/2017 @ 15:35pm |

I will put my list up forthcoming in the next few weeks. However, I want to point out early on, that while I am in the minority that likes to include all genres including hip hop, that I don't think it's imminent a rap group or artist will be nominated this year. The seeds have definitely been sown for future acts to go in, but there is neglected genres, such as heavy metal, and women "pop" rockers that are rich with deserving individuals. I will say lately two of my personal choices that deserve to go in are Bad Company, who for some reason are always overlooked, and Depeche Mode, who deservedly were nominated last year. This is definitely the first time in a long while that there isn't a glaring omission with the notable exception of the Moody Blues. The RRHOF committee has at least done a small bit to include all the perennial favorites the majority of the people seem to want Posted by K-Dawg on Tuesday, 08/22/2017 @ 05:26am |
Welcome back Ben, Posted by Enigmaticus on Tuesday, 08/22/2017 @ 06:40am |
Ah yes good to be back. I was expecting many of the nominee lists to include the Moody Blues. One of the most glaring omissions. So I will explain my list a bit. There is of course the Moody Blues on my list. As they have been for 7 years or so. I made lists before the discovery of this awesome site. I think Captain Beefheart and Devo could be 2 new nominees. Both have their place. Captain Beefheart was an cult figure of the 1960s. Somewhat in the Frank Zappa veign. Devo is an 80s act that could easily come out of nowhere. As far as Prog I choose Moodys of course and also Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Procul Harum. Last year proved that 2 prog acts can be inducted. Both Keith Emerson and Greg Lake died last year. Now Nicky Joe has a point with Sonic Youth. I personally dont know too much about them. They would be the 80s alt choice. I know they inspired acts like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. I had the Cure on my 2018 list but the Hall may want to try them out. I went with 18 nominees not 19. I am not certain the Hall would go as far as 19 again. So I go with 18 nominees. How can you not have a Paul Rodgers and Bad Company and/or Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull in the HOF! Posted by BCJT on Thursday, 08/24/2017 @ 19:35pm |
As of now, I'm still finalizing my list. I started it back in February, I believe....trouble is now its a struggle choosing all the 'left field' and legends never been nominated. There's such a huge backlog...I know, duh. Its very difficult to ponder what is on the members of the NomCom's minds. Will they repeat the same formula each year? By that I mean, 1 or 2 first-year eligible acts, half a dozen 'already nominated' acts and just a bunch of random bands/artists that will get voted into the Hall? I seriously hope they will repeat having a large ballot (at least 18) so I think its safe to say we can all expand our lists very greatly. Lastly, I hope they put more women on the ballot this time around; if I'm not mistaken there was an article posted on this site that the Committee will bring this issue to attention. Posted by Jason Voigt on Friday, 08/25/2017 @ 01:18am |
By the way: Ben, I second that 'welcome back'! I'm like you, I'm only on this site on special occasions. I don't participate in any of the voting of classic artists and songs, 'projected' and many other specialty discussions on FRL. I have a busy life at times, so its very difficult to keep up with those that live on this site (laughs). But I love to play the ballot predictions game with others. Here is my preliminary list. Usually I do a one and done, but I'm going to try a different tactic this year and listen to the input of others. As hip hop has been sufficiently represented in my opinion at this point, I feel I can slog through the long analysis of people I might not normally consider. However, my list: Posted by K-Dawg on Sunday, 08/27/2017 @ 13:42pm |
Ughhh...put a 16th in there for Kraftwerk. I can't believe I left them out, and electronic rock is another genre hideously unrepresented. Without them, there is no European music beyond the British invasion. Posted by K-Dawg on Sunday, 08/27/2017 @ 13:48pm |
I want to point out that over time the Hall has become more muti faceted but somehow not with the Induction class. Since we are only up to the Nominee phase it is true there that the Hall has covered all kinds of genres in the last couple years. A lot of my nominees branch out as a response to that as well. I have real old acts like the Moody Blues, Procul Harum and Steppenwolf on my list. I am not sure if metal will be dealt with this year. I think the Hall will go with mainstream hard rock act like Bon Jovi instead. I have 2 big pop acts on my list Janet Jackson and Tina Turner. They both have had impact over the years. I think hip Hop will be represented with Dr. Dre but be skipped in this class. This would allow Janet J. to slide in possibly. However there seems to be a reluctance for a lot of women in a class. I have Carole King on my list as well. There have been a few women as nominees the last couple years. My Tina Turner pick replaces Chaka Khan. Posted by Ben on Sunday, 08/27/2017 @ 18:56pm |
I see Kraftwerk & The Zombies as outstanding choices for the Musical Excellence awards. Both are deserving as performers but it is difficult for them to receive the votes required for induction. Say you place Kraftwerk and The Zombies in a ballot vs 1.Judas Priest 2.Radiohead 3.Smashing Pumpkins 4.Janet Jackson 5.The Cars 6.Stevie Nicks 7.Depeche Mode 8.Nine Inch Nails 9.LL Cool J 10.Soundgarden 11.Link Wray 12.Kool & The Gang 13.Black Crowes 14.Moody Blues 15.Rage Against The Machine etc. How many would actually select Kraftwerk or The Zombies on their ballots? And my follow-up commentary: Posted by Jason Voigt on Sunday, 08/27/2017 @ 23:16pm |
Bill G. was correct in some of his earlier summer posts on the R&B and lack of recent inductions. For example, The Spinners & The Marvelettes were gaining some momentum in towards of induction and then the Nom Com decided on Joe Tex. A good career cut short but had little chance of induction. They also brought Chic back for the 11th time. Another group who didn't have much of a chance due to a stacked ballot of ELO, The Cars, YES, Journey, Pearl Jam etc. This 2017-2018 election cycle should be interesting. I like Moody Blues & Procol Harum as the Prog choices. Some of my left field choices have hit over the years. Journey, Los Lobos, Peter Gabriel etc. I see 2 of these 3 being nominated out of Big Star, Blue Oyster Cult, and Roxy Music. The Chris Cornell death gives Soundgarden my Alice In Chains spot. Cornell was/is greatly respected by the musicians in life and death. He also will have Morello and Grohl in his corner. Might have to remove Steve Winwood for Blue Oyster Cult. I admire the Sonic Youth selection. As long as The Pixies aren't nominated. Radiohead is the Pearl Jam 1st eligible inductee. I will be mixing and matching to formulate and to unveil my final list around September 30. God bless the people of Houston and those Texas coastal cities affected by Hurricane Harvey. They probably will have 1 of those concerts to help those people. KING Posted by KING on Sunday, 08/27/2017 @ 23:23pm |

Pat Benatar's time will come. Remember, Heart and Joan Jett got the nod a few years back. You can't induct every single worthy candidate in a pigeonholed genre in such a diverse hall. I feel Jackson and Houston both should go in first as there is a glaring lack of 80s and 90s divas in the HOF while the 60s and 70s have a glut of deserving female lead or contributing acts. On a side not, BOC is deserving but there are a ton of grass roots movements that still need their candidate to go in. My personal new choice for the year is Bad Company. How Paul Rodgers distinctive voice has never gotten a nom is beyond me. Posted by K-Dawg on Friday, 09/1/2017 @ 10:29am |

Big star falls into the category of "your favorite band's favorite band". They weren't a huge success themselves, but were very influential on a lot of bands that went on to be major successes in the 80s and 90s. Posted by Shrek on Tuesday, 09/5/2017 @ 14:10pm |
Big Star is summed up well in these comments. Three of their albums have made Rolling Stone's Top 500 list, and two of their songs "Thirteen" and "September Gurls" have made the Top 500 songs list. So yeah, it baffles me like everyone else why they are not yet. One would think the death fairy would help get Big Star in, but at this point it would take a miracle as they are just another group that's part of a mega-backlog waiting to get in the Hall. My picks Posted by Pam on Tuesday, 09/12/2017 @ 17:21pm |
Ok. I am amending my list one more time. I want to add the Jam. So to keep 18 nominees I am taking out a 60s. Anti Classic Rock people should like that. The Jam were a lighter punk band. This gives an extra entry for the 80s since I am having the Cars and the Cure as well. Posted by Ben on Tuesday, 09/12/2017 @ 22:09pm |
So now I will explain my changes. Even though I like a certain amount of 60s acts for sure. There is a good chance they wont have 5. I had 4 60s but I removed Steppenwolf. After all Procol Harum is not nominated every year. Also the Paul Butterfield Blues Band who are in were not nominated every year. So this allowed me to strengthen the 80s. The Anti Classic rock friends should like my 80s choices. The Cars are embraced as Classic rock but are New wave. I have chosen Bon Jovi, the Cure, The Jam, Janet J and Tina Turner as well. Cool list, FRL! Yours seems to be realistic in most ways. I have included Stevie Nicks and Billy Preston in my Nominations predictions lists in the past, so I hope that totally becomes a reality. I've said it before: Stevie Nicks will likely becoming the first female 'Clyde McPhatter HOFer', even before Diana Ross (that's assuming she'll ever get in solo-wise). Her solo career was so-so, but to me its always been her image that I believe has influenced so many women today. As far as Billy Preston, that would be nice to have (what the so-called professional critics have called him) the Fifth Beatle in as well. Paul Rodgers has been one that I've suggested, but never put him on any of my lists. He's got a voice like no other. If BadCo does get nominated, I know for a fact they will likely get in right away. FRL has a nice list. It does seem to be realistic. They have predicted some of the later acts the same as me. I saw Radiohead, Soundgarden, Dr. Dre and Janet Jackson on their list. Those are on mine. Its the older ones where they go off track from me in bunch of cases. I don't know much about Dr. Dre but Rolling Stone has listed him as an essential artist on one of their lists. Stevie Nicks has a possibility but I am NOT predicting her this year. Some here on the site are. I have never listed Bad Co but Paul Rodgers is a good singer. Posted by Ben on Friday, 09/15/2017 @ 06:10am |
Nice job, FRL! You went big and went bold. I'm not sure the ballot will only include 2 female artists, but it certainly could happen. I really like the 70s R&B feel- so much like the actual ballot we got for the Class of 2015. Chuck Brown is a choice that's crazy on the surface, but is just the kind of curveball the Nom Com loves throwing at voters. Posted by AlexVoltaire on Friday, 09/15/2017 @ 10:43am |
There will always be differing opinions about who deserves to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. I happen to be an aficionado of progressive rock, therefore my list will always include several "prog," or "prog adjacent" artists. Posted by Enigmaticus on Friday, 09/15/2017 @ 12:59pm |

I'd probably give the FRL Nominees List a B. The 19 more monster Nominees List was a big hit 2016 with the fans. Could see 17 or more again. I'll agree with the probable Janet Jackson, Radiohead, The Cars. Don't see Dr. Dre that close after NWA induction. I like the Link Wray pick. So much smoke and fire around him. He will be inducted in some form or fashion. Moody Blues is a notable omission from your list. I also have Stevie Nicks. She's 1 of the Queens Of Rock and would receive many votes on the ballot. The women will be interesting to see on the ballot. KING Posted by KING on Friday, 09/15/2017 @ 17:50pm |

Hey FRL Posted by Roy on Sunday, 09/17/2017 @ 08:57am |
To Roy: I like to think/hope the Nominating Committee is getting Classic Rock Fatigue (as are many Hall watchers), and hopefully will give other genres a chance, as it's become obvious those who vote are clearly biased Babby Boomer Old Farts- quite frankly, I'd be happy NOT to see a 'classic rock' act get in the next 2 or 3 years (except for the Cars, who are actually underrated compared to most of those above acts); the Moodies will likely be on the ballot (though it will be a pity vote if they get in, rather than one of merit- if anything, they should've been on the ballot 10-15 years ago, rather than waste of time choices like Percy Sledge, Sir Douglas Quintet, and Dr. John), Foreigner hopefully will NOT (Bad Co., Doobie Brothers. and King Crimson are ALL far worthier)! Posted by EDS on Sunday, 09/17/2017 @ 11:34am |
Hopefully they might induct some newer artists this year but it's a committee of people who are very stuck in their own ways so they'll probably just induct 1 or 2 artist that has been eligible for under 10 years. Posted by Nicky Joe on Sunday, 09/17/2017 @ 12:01pm |

I think a somewhat balanced list will come this year. It is realistic to assume there will be some Classic Rock acts like there has been each year. There has been a trend lately for more Classic Rock acts. However, there will be more modern acts as well. I choose the Cure even though I am not a fan due to influence. I also choose Janet Jackson and Tina Turner who are both key Female R&b singers. I actually chose the Jam for this year. They had a career that was noticed. I do think both Radiohead and Soundgarden stand a very good chance. Especially Soundgarden due to the passing of Chris Cornell. It is most realistic to figure on both Classic and Modern. Thanks Alex; it means a lot coming from you and glad you enjoyed my list. As you know, composing Rock Hall lists is a tall task and I try to at least think how the nominating members will think when they have their annual meeting. I think there will be one or two left-field choices that nobody will see coming but then think ‘oh wait, they are worthy’ once you go through their discography. That’s why I think a Tracy Chapman Nomination will be similar to Los Lobos from two years ago - one or two major U.S. hits, but with a small but devoted fan bases, acclaim from music critics, and well-liked by other famous musicians. I’m rooting for an artist outside the USA and UK, and Toots & the Maytals would be a great representation. Posted by Nick on Thursday, 09/21/2017 @ 19:25pm |

I get the feeling the Moodys are this year's lock because they will be the popular nominee. A guy feeling, but it seems to happen every year lately and they by far seem to have the largest consensus about the most deserving band still not in. If you happen to take the time to notice, if I am not mistaken, every single one of my induction lists have included: The Moody Blues, Duran Duran, Sade and Carly Simon. Now, I am going to add King Crimson and Procol Harum to that mix. Therefore, every single one of my future induction lists will now include: Procol Harum and King Crimson. In my honest opinion, those 6 are now my essential 6. What about Jethro Tull? Posted by Enigmaticus on Tuesday, 09/26/2017 @ 13:03pm |

I want to say that I made a more conscious effort to have more modern artists. I still have several Classic Rock acts. Although Bon Jovi and the Cars are later in terms of Classic Rock. In order to have realistic predictions one should predict some Classic Rock. 3 of the Classic Rock acts on my list are prog. Those are the kind avoided a lot. I have predicted acts like The Cure, The Jam, Radiohead and Soundgarden. Anti Classic Rock fans will not have much to say about that. I have also predicted Janet Jackson and Tina Turner. I am pretty confident she will be nominated a 3rd time. I am NOT a fan. But I do like Tina Turner. I own a Gr Hits. Better Be Good to Me and Simply the Best are fine tunes. Posted by Ben on Tuesday, 09/26/2017 @ 22:01pm |
Classic rock has reached its fair share the last few years. Although I think the Moody Blues and Monkees should be shoo-ins, I am personally a huge Bad Company fan and think they have been overlooked far too long. That being said, the Cars are the link to the 80s and the next generation of rock to be inducted. It began with Journey, and since it is far past due to let the new wave and pop rock acts in. The fact that the 90s are sneaking in at a yearly rate along with still good classic bands---something is missing. The gap needs to close Posted by K-Dawg on Wednesday, 09/27/2017 @ 02:18am |

Enig, regarding your post about not taking vacation: you're not taking care of yourself. Are you honestly telling me you have NO living relatives that you know of who'd be happy to see you? I haven't started a family of my own either, but just recently I flew back home to visit my parents, since my dad was celebrating his 80th birthday. I also got to see my niece, whom I haven't seen she was toddling but not talking. I got to see all but one of my siblings and a few friends from years ago. The worst parts about it were the red-eye flights and the long layovers. Posted by Philip on Wednesday, 09/27/2017 @ 11:36am |

Interesting list, Zuzu. I don't agree with every single one of your picks, but I do enjoy the idea. Personally, I feel that the lack of female double-inductees is a barrier that needs to be smashed, the sooner the better; ergo, were I to make a similar list, Carole King and Tina Turner would absolutely be on it, as would the Crystals, a nomination including the Blossoms as one-time members of the Crystals. @ kxb put up your list of who is long overdue Posted by Zuzu on Wednesday, 09/27/2017 @ 18:38pm |
Good point, Zuzu; the only hitch though, is that your list includes a few voices already silenced by death. Lesley Gore, Patsy Cline, Mary Travers, just to name three, are women who are already passed on and won't be adding their voice with their future votes. And that's sad, because they're all pretty big snubs. I know you said you were making an exception, but for your ends, a late female performer doesn't work towards unjamming the backlog. You'd need to first induct living women who'll push for the deceased ones later. Posted by Philip on Thursday, 09/28/2017 @ 00:35am |
There are definitely a big number of women missing from the Hall; however, I did mention both Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston as songstresses who are the most deserving of the glaring omissions IMO at this point. Pat Benatar will get there sooner or later; however, Joan Jett, Heart, Blondie--there are some rock women already deservedly in. The only 80s diva that I can think of in the HOF at the moment is Madonna. Growing up in the 80s, pop was very much about these two other women as well, and they created the sound for Mariah Carey, Beyonce, and many others who came after them. There are others for sure, but we don't need to stick to folk singers from the 60s or rocking women only; there is plenty of room for the soul of these two great women. Philip, Posted by Zuzu on Friday, 09/29/2017 @ 12:12pm |
I don't know if that's necessary either, having a NomCom that's 50/50 gender split, but I wouldn't object to it either. I think the bigger problem is lack of diversity of thought, which isn't guaranteed just because you have more women. The groupthink that comes from a "who you know" atmosphere to a large degree can be enough to stifle diversity, regardless of external features of the players. Hey everyone. The FRL said Look for the nominees to be announced in about a week. Did anyone else notice that? Now do we have proof. I looked all over the Web and found nothing about that. Last year the FRL claimed it would be early October and it was announced around Oct. 18th. I want proof. Has anyone specifically read about an announcement next week. 21st Century artists don't become eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame until 2025! We still have a good 8 to 9 years for more 60s-70s acts to be inducted. There is a lot of catching up to do. As far as Bananarama having a chance at the HOF, I would say most likely not at this point. Posted by Donnie on Tuesday, 10/3/2017 @ 22:41pm |
Thought I'd repost my predictions. A solid, even 18. I replaced Bon Jovi with Pat Benatar after someone said I didn't have enough women. Thought I'd take the crazy route with her. I'm not gonna jinx it by putting Stevie Nicks. Otherwise, this is my final list right before the NomCom officially announces the nominees. Posted by Jason Voigt on Wednesday, 10/4/2017 @ 00:07am |
Ben - As far as Bananarama goes I'd pretty much echo what Donnie said. There are still a lot of women from the era from mainstream pop and R&B stars, some of whom Donnie mentioned, to highly popular rockers like Pat Benatar to someone like Siouxsie Sioux who was a major innovator and influence across multiple Alternative/"Underground" subgenres and had some reasonable commercial success while doing it. Stevie Nicks, Eurythmics and Cyndi Lauper all have a significant number advocates as well and strong cases to make. So, I don't expect Bananarama to pop up any time soon. They had a few pop songs that are iconic to the era, but I don't think they really rose to a Hall of Fame level of importance. Posted by DarinRG on Wednesday, 10/4/2017 @ 00:31am |

They are not eligible for several years, but Sleater-Kinney is my top 'all female' modern choice (Go-Gos being 2nd). Posted by Paul in KY on Wednesday, 10/4/2017 @ 09:46am |
FINAL PREDICTION Posted by Roy on Wednesday, 10/4/2017 @ 09:56am |
Well, at long last, the day is almost here. I swear, the nominee announcement is like Christmas morning to me. And the inductee announcement is like the Super Bowl. Haha. Anyway, this is the best time of year. I hope everyone's favorites get their due tomorrow. I can't wait to start speculating about who I'll be seeing in Cleveland on April 14th!! Posted by Greg P. on Wednesday, 10/4/2017 @ 13:14pm |
I agree about the excitement of the nominee announcement except since I am Jewish its Thanksgiving morning. But the inductee announcement os like the Super Bowl. I expect a bunch of people will have at least a couple of their choices will get their due tomorrow with a nomination. It would be strange if all my choices come true. I will be happy with several. I look forward to speculating and chatting about who the inductees will be for 2018. This will be my last post bfore the announcement. Posted by Ben on Wednesday, 10/4/2017 @ 15:04pm |

My guess Procol Harum will be nominated next year and inducted. It's possible Moody Blues and The Zombies could be inducted April 2018. That leaves Procol Harum a few avenues of nomination. 1.60's group 2.Prog. My guess Procol Harum's biggest competition would be Bad Company next year. Say J. Geils Band, Moody Blues, and The Zombies are somehow inducted. That would help Procol Harum's nomination for next year. I think of the Procol Harum's excellent musicianship and briliant songs as reasons for their induction. They have some on the Committee that like them. Hi Jason Voight, I am so sorry for the delay in answering you back. Thank you for your kind message to my son Richie & I & for connecting with him on Twitter. He can not wait for you to post your predictions in late November. He feels yours & his predictions are very similar. I agree with what your sister said. There is a good chance that you too are on the spectrum as research is showing clearly a genetic connection pertaining to us Autistic's. Many would like to call the increase of us Autistic's an epidemic but we would prefer to call it a simple evolution of mankind itself. As an Autism Advocate I have connected with thousands of Autistic's over the years & majority of us are proud to be Autistic. You seem like such an honest & nice young man & I am very happy you & Richie have connected. Did you know research is also showing us now that many of the most influential & game changers ( so to speak) on this earth have been Autistic? It's pretty cool!! Anyways thanks again Hon & many, many blessings to you & your family. Posted by Sheri on Saturday, 11/11/2017 @ 10:34am |

I agree with so many big names left out of the hall on the snubs lists, but there are a few names still left out of snub lists worth mentioning: The Ohio Players, Molly Hatchett, 38 Special, Jefferson Starship,Huey Lewis & The News, Poison, and a particular band that is extremely creative and artistic with two albums out in 1976 alone who were led by singer/songwriter guitarist extraordinaire Bill Nelson: BeBop Deluxe!! 11/20/17 Posted by W. Well, it's Thanksgiving Day. Time to unveil my 2017-2018 Inductees. 1.Bon Jovi. The band leads the fan voting by a large margin and will have most of the rock bands voting for them. Jon Bon Jovi has reached legend status. 2.Moody Blues. Moody Blues a strong 2nd place showing in fan balloting and will receive votes from ELO, Pink Floyd, Rush, etc. They are still performing in concerts and 1 of the biggest RRHOF snubs. 3.Radiohead. The first time eligible inductee. Pablo Honey, The Bends, and OK Computer are all ranked highly by critics. OK Computer is ranked as the best 90's CD by some publications. Have both the critical and commercial acclaim. 4.LL Cool J. He's one of the biggest stars on this ballot with Bon Jovi. His acting and music puts him in the public consciousness. The recent induction of NWA shows the voters will vote for a rap artist even a controversial one. He's also has some hit songs: Going Back To Cali, Mama Said Knock You Out, etc. 5.Judas Priest. They will receive plenty of votes from AC/DC Black Sabbath, KISS, Van Halen, etc. Many of these rock groups have 4 or 5 members so that's plenty of votes for Priest. Judas Priest like Moody Blues have been around nearly 50 years and deserve induction for their influence and longevity. Still at top of their game. If a 6th, I would go for 6.Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler one of the most respected musicians out there. Brothers In Arms was a monster selling album. Early Influence-Harry Bellafonte and Nina Simone. Musical Excellence-Link Wray and The Zombies. My guess the RRHOF would like getting both Link Wray and The Zombies inducted and this is a creative way to do so. KING Posted by KING on Thursday, 11/23/2017 @ 04:57am |
Sorry to hear about Radiohead and their choice to play concerts instead of attending the RRHOF ceremony if inducted. Judas Priest and The Zombies and a few other nominees would be honored to be inducted. I believe it would be a missed opportunity. It's about remembering the mother or uncle who bought your 1st guitar, the fans at the 1st show who continued to buy the CD's and attend the concerts. Those remembrances of putting together masterworks The Bends and OK Computer. In essence, the entire journey. Remembrances of 30+ years of an excellent career. My guess their will be a Skype or satellite of Radiohead stopping for a few minutes thanking the fans adnd acknowledging their honor. Maybe, a 5 minute taped segment before the concert. It's just not the same. KING Posted by KING on Friday, 12/1/2017 @ 23:00pm |
