Without a second thought, yes, Yanni should be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame! People like to write him off as the "boring" king of New Age music, but people forget that he did at one point make "rock" music. Sure it was a long time ago but It should be celebrated and not forgotten. I would say his first 3 albums, Optimystique, Keys to Imagination, and Out of Silence are full of prog/synth rock bangers and deserve to remembered as such. Optimystique has songs like The Sphynx, Butterfly Dance, and Strings, which gave the world a mix of Zappa, jazz fusion, and synth music, with Strings being my favorite on that album. Keys to Imagination gave the world songs like The North Shore of Matsushima, Forbidden Dreams, and Nostalgia, a mix of the fantasy elements from bands like Yes and early Genisis with the magical majesty of sound from an artist like Vangelis. My favorite on that album being Nostalgia. The third album Out of Silence leaned more heavily on the synth, with songs like Within Attraction, Acroyali, and The Mermaid, which I feel took lots of inspiration from other synth masters, of the time, like Jean-Michel Jarre, Jan Hammer, and Brian Eno, that were making and exploring similar avenues in the art of synth music. My favorite on that album is Within Attraction.
