Many of Tim Hardin songs touched the harts of all, like...Lady Came from Baltimore, How Can We Hang on to a Dream,Don't Make Promises,Reason to Believe and If I Were a Carpenter. he was at woodstock, played with bob dylan, fred neil in the village . Tim may have had some problems, but his music was real. he should be in the hall of gfame

For what it's worth, one of the top searches that brings people to my baby boomer music blog http://estivator.blogspot.com is either Tim himself or his version of Simple Song of Freedom. Could be the year in our history that makes it resonate so, but regardless, he was something.

ďBarack Obama Told the NationĒ, my version of Tom Paxtonís ďLyndon Johnson Told the NationĒ

I got a letter from Mr. Obama
It said, ďItís time to kill OsamaĒ
Itís time to take a stand
Through it may seem very weird
We have no jobs for you here
So weíre sending you to Afghanistan

Barack Obama told the nation
Have no fear of escalation
Iím trying everyone to please
Through it isnít really war
Weíre sending eighty thousand more
To help save Afghanistan from Afghanis

I jump off the old troop plane
And found pain in my brain
I swore until my captain called me down
Never mind how hard itís blowing
Think of all the ground were gaining
Just donít take a step out of town

Barack Obama told the nation
Have no fear of escalation
Iím trying everyone to please
Through it isnít really war
Weíre sending eighty thousand more
To help save Afghanistan from Afghanis

Every night the local gents
Slip out past the snoozing tents
They go to join the Taliban
In their nightly little raids
They coming marching in parade
And come throwing grenades at me

Barack Obama told the nation
Have no fear of escalation
Iím trying everyone to please
Through it isnít really war
Weíre sending eighty thousand more
To help save Afghanistan from Afghanis

We go round in great tanks
Moving around the ranks
Searching for the Taliban in vain
They told us they were playing fool
Way down in Kabul
Their battle positions to maintain

And Barack Obama told the nation
Have no fear of escalation
Iím trying everyone to please
Through it isnít really war
Weíre sending eighty thousand more
To help save Afghanistan from Afghanis

Well, here I wait in this sand
Wondering where I stand
And I know Obama loves me so
Yet how sadly I remember
Way back in October
When he said Iíd never have to go

And Barack Obama told the nation
Have no fear of escalation
Iím trying everyone to please
Through it isnít really war
Weíre sending eighty thousand more
To help save Afghanistan from Afghanis
