These guys? Absolutely don't think so. How could they be inducted to the RN'R hall of fame since they've never been mainstreamed?

These guys are one of the hardest working bands in the business, and they've taken a sound that is unique to NYHC around the world, often being the first US band to play in many of the third world countries they've played. I recall Ian MacKaye that whenever he thought Fugazi was playing in a country somewhere a US punk band hadn't played before, he'd go to the dressing room and find a SOIA sticker.

This band has had a profound influence world wide, and are still going strong after 20 years. While they might not have ever been 'main stream'-- that should HARDLY be the criterion. The list of musicians they have influenced is endless, and since when was rock and roll SUPPOSED to be mainstream?

Beautiful, my dear, beautiful. Now I regret to have to write this part.

You can thank the rock & roll revival shows of the 70's, which brought ex-50's greasers & poodle skirters out of Middle America. You can thank the Boomers & their failed revolution for the attempt to re-write it in the 80's & 90's (you know - the remodeled 9 to 5, charge it on Visa version). If you've gotten tired of the Boomers, don't fret - Generation X will come a callin' pretty soon. They'll replace the Boomers delusional hippie hypocrisy w/a combo of ozone-killing hairspray & body punctured piercings. You could probably catch Mr. or Mrs. Gen-X by using a metal detector on al those piercings, providing you can find them through the low lying hairspray fog.

Guess what I'm trying to say is - don't make the mistake everyone else has made - anybody tells you this band will be iconic, tell them to get lost! Keep them for yourself! It's the only way to preserve the feelings you might have for their music, lest the tractor beam of nostalgia sucks you in and destroys you!

BTW: Who are these guys?

There is no question that these guys deserve to be inducted. It doesn't matter if they never went mainstream!!! That is a great thing that they stuck to their roots and didn't. They're not in it for the money, they're in it for the love of the music and the crowd participation. That is a rare thing these days. It needs to be commended. They are one of the hardest working, committed bands in the scene. Not to mention they were the first hardcore band to ever play Singapore. For an underground band to achieve what they have throughout the 25 plus years of being a band says enough. PUT THEM IN!!!!! The mainstream is all cookie-cutter anyway.

not being "mainstream" does not mean that they have not made a huge impact on music. mainstream is not what hardcore is about.

Gosh... I am not a "punk" fan even when it first came out.. I would take junk out jazz cats a 1000x's over
I don't think "Sick of it All" is/was will be a major influence..So that is out.. Did they sell zillions.. ? I don't know .? but think not..! so that is out..Did the move it a up a notch and 1/2 ??
Sounds like they are just a good punk band..
All I can say is I hope they like what they do.. because it looks like them getting a day job could be tight,,
I wish them LUCK!!!!

No hardcore band deserves it more than these guys.
They have been true to there style since day one; never stopped working to get their sound further; true and REAL inspiration for all future kids that need a place to get involved with....theres tons more to be said about sick of it all.

But if its just about being "mainstream" or selling "zillions", the hall of fame doesn´t deserve to have them.

FOLKS, the "Future Rock Legends" database is partially created with the help of people emailing the website the name and date of an artist/group/band and when they had their first recording. If you go out and start a band tomorrow, then release an LP on an independent or major label on or before December 31, 2009, then YOUR BAND will be on the list of "Eligible for 2035".

Sick of It All are pioneers of the New York hardcore punk scene, so they deserve to be part of this.
