Oh c'mon! 20-oddyears of Pop-kingdom decorated with great lyrics and arrangements...why not? They deserve this title more than anyone...

Nine Inch Nails, Moby, Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, and Chemical Brothers wouldn't be possible without Pet Shop Boys.

Electronica is here. Pet Shop Boys helped pioneer it.

West End Girls, Opportunities, It's A Sin, Suburbia, What Have I Done To Deserve This?...

Of course they should go in. Fantastic music, lyrics, the best stage shows and still maintaining their same high standard as ever.

Should they be inducted? Yes.

Will they be inducted? I'd be surprised.

They may not be "rock," but neither are a number of other artists who've made it. And they themselves have expressed disdain for the Hall of Fame, which is typical of their iconoclastic attitudes that are in many ways very "rock and roll." Oh, yeah, and there are those superb songs they've written, terrific albums, and longevity. A very good case can be made for them.

I'd vote for them. But I'll still be surprised if it ever happens.

I'd be surprised too. Even by the RHAF standards they suck.

They represent, musically, the combination of orchestral composition, blended with edgy techno and intelligent lyrics. All presented with Neil's languid vocals. YES, YES, YES!!!

I can't see anyone else with more influence, more longevity AND consistency of album production than the Pet Shop Boys since Elton John was inducted. The Pet Shop Boys are prolific song writers at the league of Elton as far as I am concerned. And they are no less "rock-and-rolly" than the Beatles (Sorry, Boys!), despite some claims to the contrary.

Looking at the history of hold-offs, however, I have to say they are more likely to be hold-overs to the next year. Or the next....

One of the greatest bands of the last twenty-five years and why not?

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE PET SHOP BOYS MAKE IT IN. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT MY LIFE WOULD BE LIKE WITHOUT THEM. THEY STILL ARE MAKING THE BEST ELECTRONIC MUSIC AROUND. MY VOTE IS YES. NOW IM OFF TO SEE THEM THIS JUNE AT THE O2 ARENA IN LONDON. CHEERS FROM KANSAS CITY MO.

If you've only noticed their techno musical style,
which has essentially remained unchanged throughout
their career, listen to the songs themselves.
Beneath all the beats & electronica, they're
very talented songwriters & have some of the most
imaginative song titles around:

"How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?"
"Your Funny Uncle"
"I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing"
"You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk",
etc.

Pet Shop Boys DESERVE TO BE INDUCTED FOR 2010 since they are ground breaking artists and had set the platform for other artists as well as being incredibly ahead of their contemporaries for years. They are two geniuses that simply deserve this recognition.

What is it with the Pet Shop Boys getting so much love with "yes" votes recently?

Posted by Keebord on Saturday, 09.5.09 @ 06:02am

Yes, definitely they should get in, but they probably won't. They did make that snide remark in "How Can You Expect to be Taken Seriously":

You live within the headlines
Everyone can see
You're supporting every new cause
Meeting royalty
You're another major artist
On a higher plain
Do you think they'll put you in the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame?

Too funny!!

No way, i cant see it happening and if it does i would be shocked. They are simply too lightweight and comical, the songs are boring and their live shows are a complete farce.

Rolling Stone Magazine gave all The Pet Shop Boys albums 4 or 5 stars. They are a shoe-in.

The Pet Shop Boys
The Beastie Boys

Rolling Stone once gave Miley Cyrus a good review, go figure.

Posted by Paul on Sunday, 11.14.10 @ 11:42am

Rolling Stone sucks IMO,but Pet Shop Boys do not, they should definitely get inducted.

Posted by Allen on Tuesday, 05.31.11 @ 00:16am

Should they? YES

Will they? NO

Would they accept in the very unlikely event they *were* voted in? PROBABLY NOT. And that would be historic. Has anyone, once voted in, ever refused induction? I don't think so. But it would be just like them.
