Joe Walsh should have kept this band together!

I'm surpised, so little comments for such a great band. The band showed how great Joe Walsh, the man who in my opinion embodies the spirit of rock better than anyone else, was before his solo career and The Eagles. And let's not forget how great the other members of the band were. "Funk #49", "Walk Away" and "The Bomber" still hold up better than ever. A truly great rock and roll band and a band that I feel definately deserves induction.

Tesla, Van Halen, and The Black Keys have all covered James Gang either live or in the studio. The James Gang definately deserve induction(IMO).

Joe Walsh should have gone in 3 times. James Gang, Solo, Eagles. I voted no because I don't think they will git in even tho they deserve to.

I'm actually not overly familiar with the James Gang in terms of innovation and influence. I know a few of their songs and that Joe Walsh was a member but my research on the infamous I&I factor has led me to a bit of a dead end. They have a very high fan approval (feel like I'm missing out on something big here) so clearly lots of people think they should be in the Hall of Fame, anybody care to share why? Thanks!

You're not missing anything.

Walsh is a solid guitar player, a decent songwriter with a fun style, and a fairly charasmatic guy. He's certainly deserving of induction as a member of the Eagles. But you're seeing a vocal minority at work here.

Joe Walsh solo and/or with the James Gang is a fun footnote to rock, but no more Hall-Worthy than Foghat, Montrose, or any of a hundred other servicable 70s rock bands.

No problem. Don't let that stop you from checking him out. You might decide you like his stuff, especialy if you like a little irreverence in your music. He's not a Hall of Famer, but he's not bad or anything either. And if it turns out that you end up a fan, that's probably more important than some arbitrary award that he's not going to get anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions Ralph, I'm finally getting back to you after checking some of their stuff out. I like some of it and I read up on them quite a bit but 89% yes? Seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

James Gang was very special, RALPH, not just another band! They were influential musically and thrilling live. They gave you that feeling like you were part of something important, not just good times. Cultural decadence, Rock of ages.
