Ian Dury and the Blockheads are actually already eligible..."Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" was released in '78. They have no realistic chance whatsoever, but I'm voting yes just because "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" is the catchiest nonsense song in the history of ever.

I saw the band right after " New Boots And Panties" came out. I ended up dropping out of college so that I could listen to the album every morning." What a waste", but i believe that this band is worthy of something better than a place with Mad donna. Enjoy the music, without a seat next to a wanna'be. R.I.P Ian, God bless

A very talented band that has most likely been overlooked by the Hall committee because they never had any commercial success in the U.S. (Actually, I'm not even sure if any of their albums were released in the U.S., to begin with.) and they would probably be perceived as being "too British." Truly a shame because Ian Dury and the Blockheads infused an eclectic mix of styles into their music and added a lot of humor to their songs. I recommend Billericay Dickie, Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, Spasticus Autisticus, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, What A Waste, and Plaistow Patricia for primers.

R.I.P., Ian. May your witty lyrics and idiosyncratic style capture a new audience!
