Yes to Doris Day, a groundbreaking singer and a cornerstone of 50s music,

she influenced The Beatles, George Michael, Billy Joel and Elton John, funny enough, they all ended up referencing her in there songs.

her influence in rock is something that can't be ignored and this 50s icon needs to be added to the hall.

I just read a story on her today. Wow, she lived to be 97 years old, and definitely lived a full life, and then some. She always had a very positive outlook on life, despite a few bad times, losing her son in 2004, and one of her husbands' spending about $20 Mil of her savings without telling her. The story said she was in great health for her age, but got a bad case of pneumonia.
I remember some of those movies with her when I was a kid, like "Please Don't Eat the Daisies" and "The Glass-Bottom Boat", and man that girl could sing, which is probably why I liked her so much back then.

@ Will N.

Not sure if Doris Day is Hall material as an early influence, but she interestingly had five number one songs on the Billboard 100 back in the late 40’s and 50’s. She was one of those celebrities I thought she would make it as a centenarian along with Betty White three years now, but Doris had a good long life nonetheless. RIP

I voted "no", but didn't think about the possibility of her making it as an early influence. I can tell you my (pre-rock and roll generation) father had a serious crush on her, as did many men of his generation.

Rest in Peace Doris Day, 1922-2019
