Will Charlie Feathers be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?
"Musical excellence is the essential qualification for induction."

I'm having a hard time believing this is THE Charlie Feathers, the influential Rockabilly pioneer. The three primary causes for my disbelief are 1) He recorded his first single in 1955, which would have made him eligible in 1980 and NOT 2001 and 2) the fact he only has a 17% approval. The REAL Charlie Feathers surely would have at LEAST a 71% fan approval?? and finally 3) 2% induction chances, are you kidding me?? Are you sure you didn't mean 20%?

The thing about Charlie Feathers is Sam Phillips tried to give him a break at Sun Records but ultimately wasn't that impressed with him. Add that to the fact that it's no secret that he was so jealous of Elvis he couldn't see straight (and he obviously wasn't in that league)...just not the best situation.

My focus is on Johnny Burnette, who at the time WAS in that league...

Tahvo...I understand your enthusiasm and you've shown yourself to be very knowledgable when it comes to rock, so I'd never be critical of you. However, in all honesty, I think Feathers' chances for induction are more like "Zero"...

I understand your points Gitarzan, and I do think it's pretty unlikely that Feathers will be inducted, I was just a bit surprised when I came across this page. But yes, I agree wholeheartedly with you about Johnny Burnette & The Rock 'n' Roll Trio. The RRHOF had sense to induct Gene Vincent (albeit without The Blue Caps) so why they continue to snub Johnny Burnette makes zero sense.

Yep...I was talking to my mom about this endevour and I brought up Gene Vincent and she corrected me by saying "It was always "Gene Vincent & HIS Blue Caps (not "the") was never just "Gene Vincent".

Another example of Wenner & Co. dropping the ball...

I always find myself mixing up "His" Blue Caps and "The" Blue Caps but at least I don't completely leave out "Blue Caps" unlike some people in Cleveland who should know better when they're claiming to run a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Yeah, the one in Cleveland has a tendency to say..."Gene Vincent & the WHAT???". Shows what great rock afficionados they are...especially Wenner and Dave "I know everything about everything" Marsh!!!

Indeed. Patting themselves on the back for their so-called "knowledge and expertise"
