They were pioneers of sampling. Of course, their style was more splicing than the cutting and threading of hip-hop that the HoF people revere so much. Still, they broke through with a major innovation, even going to the mat for it in court, and won. They're both gone now, but "The Flying Saucer" should be an inducted track at the very least.

I think Bill Buchanan later wrote a song for Bobby Vee, can't recall the title though.

This is one of the reasons I think the Hall should have someway of inducting songs. "The Flying Saucer" should be preserved somewhere for it's importance.

Also, there are artists who may not necessarily have Hall of Fame worthy careers (IE Lou Christie, the Spaniels, the Penguins, etc) but had at least one or so Hall-worthy song. Such a category is probably how Percy Sledge should have gone in.
