As much as I hate to say this I will have t agree with Claw... P.Diddy WILL get in the hall as a non performer... Due to the effect he had on 90's urban music.

He's a sampler! No samplers allowed!! He sucks! Keep him away from the Rock Hall. What a joke! I hate him more than I hate Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, U2, R.E.M, and the B-52s.

Rap is overrated garbage. I hate defenders saying it reflects the Afro-American community. There are many blacks who don't embrace it. Gospel is probably more broadly popular. In Diddy's case, as with other rappers, music is a stepping stone and a springboard to greater things, including acting. Even they know how much it sucks.

Rap is not Rock and Roll. Rappers in the HOF made the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a joke.

The argument for rap is pretty straightforward. The father of rap is funk. The father of funk is James brown, part of the inaugural rock hall class. Therefore rap is a descendant of rock and roll.
Plus rap doesn't have its own hall of fame and needs the acknowledgment. Unlike country whose hall of fame is even more successful than rocks and their artist don't need the extra acknowledgment.
