“Come On Eileen”, “Geno”, and “Jackie Wilson Said (I’m In Heaven When You Smile)” aside, Dexys has for a long time been one of my very favorite bands. I doubt that they’ll ever be considered, let alone nominated and especially inducted, but I think it’s unfair to judge a band’s entire career on one song, like much of this comment section is doing. Their 3 albums are all absolutely amazing underrated classics in my opinion, and each represent vastly different eras in their career. In fact, their third album “Don’t Stand Me Down”, has very frequently been called the “Pet Sounds” of the 80s, and their debut album “Searching For The Young Soul Rebels” has placed very high on both NME and Melody Maker’s lists of the greatest albums of all time.
