African American Artists/Bands which really deserve serious consideration:
(1)Bad Brains-Punk bands tend not to get due credit for their musicianship and songwriting. BB were innovators, they inspired other bands to fuse punk& reggae.
(2)Chic-Nile&Bernard&Tony are one of the best selling acts of Atlantic Records, their sound has influenced several artists who are in. They were serious musicians, arrangers, producers.
(3)Kool and the Gang-Serious Musicians, with roots in Jazz, their biggest hits are classics and staples almost anthems, they were soulful, funky, and they rocked from time to time.
(4) War-A jazzy and soulful group, and a classic rock staple at the same time, serious musicians, a very unique sound.

Tribe Called Quest-okay, but don't forget about fellow Native Tongue-De La Soul (one of Hip Hops most underrated MCs)

Primus-not HOF material, maybe No Doubt if they are eligible, Fishbone(they gave it 1000% live for the past 30 years)

Yes, Rick James, Robert Cray, Richie Havens, Deep Purple-they deserve all serious consideration. Each of these acts are long due.

Looked at major acts that are eligible in this year & see one very big one: Smashing Pumpkins.

After that, I would be looking at Alice in Chains, Blur, Black Crowes, Ice Cube, Mariah Carey as the heavyweights in that year.

On this list the only 2 I see that should make it into the (ROCK n ROLL) Hall of Fame are The Black Crowds and Alice in Chains.There are slot of bands that I enjoy that are eligible but these are the only 2 real rock bands.I think diversity can be good but it's not the music hall of fame ,it's the ROCK n Roll Hall of Fame.

Moby Grape, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Country Joe & the Fish are all classic rock bands that should have been inducted long time ago, same thing for the 13th Floor Elevators. Also Connie Francis, the first female Rock & Roll star has been overlooked.

Blur should have be listed under "An Uphill-ish Battle"

(also, when I label someone as a "Lock," I don't mean necessarily always that they're going to get in without fail in their first year of eligibility, but I mean there is zero doubt they will get in reasonably quickly if not their first year, as happened with Red Hot Chili Peppers for example).


"An Uphill-ish Battle" means they have strong qualifications to begin with, but a nomination in the first five years is unlikely due to competition unless their recognition/influence increases. "An Even More Uphill Battle" means they will probably not be nominated in the next 25 years unless they raise their credentials/appreciation/influence.

"Slimmer Than Slim" means I really don't expect a nomination in my lifetime unless they are able to become more critically and popularly relevant.

The Rock and Roll hall of fame are for those artists that have had a profound influence on music, the public and shaping music. People and groups who have effected society and the hearts of the people who listen.

To even consider someone like Kid Rock would just turn the whole purpose of the rock and roll hall of fame into shit. To even consider him degrades and lessons the hall of fames importance to just another hard rock hotel where anyone with a gimmick or costume can end up on the walls. There is nothing creative, new, innovative or redeeming about his music. To endorse such a person would be a travesty to the hall of fame and music itself.

I think that the Commodores should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 and Smokey Robinson should induct them. Also you should have Backstreet Boys induct somebody like maybe the Osmonds, Stylistics, or New Edition, Have Usher induct maybe Barry White, Rick James. Chubby Checker should finally be inducted, and We still disagree with you having Justin Timberlake inducting the O'jays in 2005. That honor should have gone to either Don Cornelius or Eddie Levert's sons Gerald and Sean of Levert. That was very racist and insulting. I really do think Backstreet Boys should induct New Edition. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, though they won't admit it, has imposed a moratorium on R&B acts. Don't ask me why. I think that (and I've said this several times before on this site), the RRHOF is using the existence of the new R&B Music Hall of Fame as an excuse to bypass R&B acts. They are NOT bypassing Rappers, though. Figure THAT one out !!!

Chaka Khan & Rufus , The Marvelettes, Mary Wells , The Spinners...all nominated...but not inducted . The Commodores, The Stylistics, Dionne Warwick, Barry White,Janet Jackson, Lou Rawls, and numerous others, not even CONSIDERED. Do you see an equal playing field here ? I don't.
