Dear Sirs,
As the music industries experiences change..Mr. Mathis has been able to span the decades as a well respected interpeter of sound. As of 2006.. mr. mathis celecbrated 50 years or so of industry membership. His soft sultry sound has been a format in many of the Baby Boomer generation and is no secret to the reason we had experienced a growth in the population ( Romantic Moods).
Please consider Mr. Mathis for this honor as he will maintain the professional association to the Rock N Roll hall Of fame throughout his remaining years. Please remember sir that Mr. Mathis introduced a vocal style of originality and uniqueness. As a sincere fan of this professional artist, I can truly say his live performances are a rare treat for many adorning fans. The divine gave him a gift and that vocal abilities is the reason I personally melt while in my chair.
Please consider this legend of vocal interpetation.
Thank you kindly,
Martin Morales

I appreciate his fame and the longevity of his music, but I have a hard time classifying Johnny Mathis's music as Rock and Roll.

But what did he do that innovated or influenced? I agree that he interpreted the music, but so did Sinatra and he did it better.

Mathis only gets in if he buys a ticket.

DEAR STAFF
BEFORE MY TIME-- BUT THEN AGAIN HIS CLASSIC HITS ARE TIMELESS. I HAVE STUDIED HIS CAREER VIA THE WEB AND 50 PLUS YEARS OF SMOOTH CLASS, STARTING IN THE ROCK AND ROLL ERA AND STILL GOING STRONG WITH SELLOUT CONCERTS HERE AND THE UK--WHO WOULDN'T WANT A CAREER LIKE THAT. WAS ELVIS ROCK AND ROLL ? -- WELL HE LIKED JOHNNY MATHIS'S HITS. I GUESS ELVIS KNEW THAT ROCK AND ROLL SPANDED MANY STLYES, LIKE SLAMMIN --(JAIL HOUSE ROCK) --TO THAT ROMANTIC STUFF, YOU KNOW LIKE WHEN YOUR ON THE SOFA WITH YOUR SWEETHEART--LIKE (CHANCES ARE) AND (IT'S NOT FOR ME TO SAY).
HE'S EARNED IT.
THANKS FOR READING

Mathis received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003, by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. This Special Merit Award is presented by vote of the Recording Academy's National Trustees to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artist significance to the field of recording.[10]

Johnny Mathis's career has spanned over five decades!!! His greatest hits album was on the billboard charts for 9 1/2 consecutive years and he has sold over 180 million albums worldwide with 62 gold and platinum albums under his belt. Countless muscians as well as millions of everyday listeners consider him one of (if not the greatest) and most unique and recognizable voices of all time! Bono,Scott Weiland, Ray Charles just to name a few who have been influenced by him.Just check him out on youtube. He is incredible and deserves more recognition and this would be a start!!!!!

If Johnny Mathis doesnt get put in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame then I will begin to question the crediility of it.
Mathis isnt just one of the greatest interpretors of song, he is a pioneer in music and has successfully battled it out in the music charts around the world along side all Gendres of music. His longevety and consistant top quality in both recordings and in live performances is an envial lesson to all world class and successful musicians a lot of which are rock and rollers and many influenced by the voice of the Great Johnny Mathis.
His worldwide recording sales speak for him in volumes, now well over 350 million according to Guinness book of music recording sales and statistics wrier Paul Gambaccini.
VOTE JOHNNY MATHIS IN !

Mathis must be voted in, his music trancends around the world. He is of the very few who has taken acceptable risk in his music diversity and succeeded in quality throughout his music catalogue.
The rock and roll hall of fame would do well to recognise his achievements and artists who have been influenced by him, some of whome themselves are worthy to be in the rock and roll hall fame. For the rcok hall of fame to be taken seriously as a music endorsment for some of the worlds greatest artists.
For sure Johnny Mathis is one of them.
